Have at it.
Would be nice to keep all Blair bashing in a single thread this week so we can follow all the others un-sidetracked.
I have not seen the game so am not "yaying" or "naying".

Given that there is a thread dedicated to changes for the next game, it would seem logical that Blair would feature heavily in said thread.

You really should watch the game to see how bad he was....I think its time to pull the pin on him, we have so many more talented players who can take his spot running around in the VFL

I'm sure I will watch it once I gt the link and I'm not stifling the discussion, just coralling it here.

Haha

Take it easy, aside from the goal kicking and incidentally Blair is one of our better set shots, we dominated...have some faith that he played his role well.

Only if you call the thread The Blair Ditch Project

True, but the bashing could be confined to this thread.;)

Save a position by getting Greenwood to play Blair's supposed defensive forward role. He is not great by any means but offers much, much more than Blair.

Couldn't believe it today when I saw Blair lining up in the centre, with JDG stuck at half forward. Is this not counter productive. JDG needs time in the centre as he will be a beast of a clearance player if allowed to develop there. What's the point of Blair starting there?

There's no imaginative thinking in the coaching group if that's the best they csn come up with.

For what it's worth, I would make these couple of moves.

1. Sidebottom to a permanent forward role.He is a great reader of the play and kicks goals. Takes him out of the midfield where those stupid dinky kicks invariably costs us goals.
2. Maynard to a midfield role. His kicking is very good now as was seen today. With Berg now in the team at half back, this is a must move. Also, any brain fades may not cost us goals.
3. JDG more centre time. He needs to start in there as he is a clearance beast. In conjunction with the current midfield, adding JDG and Maynard in there will make it a very big bodied group which will be hard to contain.
4. Blair a definite out, closely followed by Crisp, who although tries extremely hard, is a poor decision maker and an even worse ball butcher.
5. There are a number of possibilities for ins. Crocker, Brown, Kirby and Daicos have played a few good VFL games now. If it's a dry day, possibly Cox just to give Moore a help out with dump kicks. Can also relieve in the ruck so Moore doesn't have to do it.

Not huge changes but something different.

Was probably not a great game by Blair. He finished last in our team for fantasy points, whatever that is worth. The issue was it was probably the kind of constitutions where he should step up. Wet and slippery. Custom made for the smaller players. Not sure who I would replace him with. Maybe Brown??

Yep, you know at the start(or early)of last year Buckley made a comment regarding JDG I don't remember it word for word but it was along the lines of "You've just got to give him his time in the guts, normally with a young player they bide their time at half forward and it's hard to make a spot in there but he's just a bull, his play demands it".

Just hasn't eventuated.

A bit like when he also said they wanted to give Witts and Grundy as much time as possible to play together and they(as a coaching staff) were committed to making it work, lasted all of a few games, only for Witts to be relegated and traded for well unders.

A lot of mixed messages, and we aren't even the players...

I've decided to rename him Linda because every time he touches the ball, I find myself praying

Can't see what he adds to be honest, he has been better for us in the past but not earning his spot ATM. I don't even bother with his stats anymore; every time he gets the pill, he burns it.

We have better options for a half forward running around in the VFL. Just put the guy out of his misery.

Any of the following offer more, Crocker, Brown, Langdon, Wills, Mayne (yes Mayne!), Thomas (rookie list), Kirby, Ramsay, Schade,

Then the injured types Aish, Varcoe, Daicos, White, Sinclair, Oxley

Some aren't even his position but I'd still play them before him even Reid and Cox

I just think Blair has squeezed his lemon dry, he is just not suitable anymore* lacks score board impact, tackles don't stick, doesn't take the first option quick enough, keeps putting players under pressure.

* Confession: in 2010 when he was first picked I didn't get it, still don't. He played in the flag win, good on him, but didn't offer much I would have preferred Lokyear or Davis in the replay to him.
Just never been sold on what he offers.
Got me stumped.

For much of the past few years Blairy has been unfairly maligned. But not any more. He is offering less than any of the kids like Crocker, Daicos, aish would. He has no future and his present is horrible.. It is the most obvious selection decision you are ever likely to see... Do you reckon we'll take it though?

If we are going tom play with one key forward that we need to play another medium size forward as we currently have 2 small forwards in the team. This hurts me to say but I would replace Blair with Mayne.

Blair witch hat project must end. He makes me puke Green pea soup like his Aunty Linda and I break out in boils shaped like filth logo and my head spins while I praise umpires for correct decisions against him...

Don't lose sight of the fact that Blair is a Collingwood Premiership player.
His contrubtion to the side in 2017 hasn't been great, pressure acts possibly ,his greatest stats.
I wasn't happy yesterday when he seemingly called for handballs when he was surrounded by Lions players. One case was he called to Crisp (I think it was him) for a pass in the backline when Daniel Rich gobbled it up for a goal.Maybe the pace of the game has caught up with him.
Let him have his 150th then replace him with a developing payer ie Daics,Brown.

If he took the first option available instead of trying to fake opponents out with a dummy (he does this every time he gets the ball) , he might well have a place in the side. Particularly when you consider his second option is nearly always a turn over or to a contest.

Buckley commented pre-game that he likes Greenwood and De Goey as those forward pressure players. Therefore, not sure exactly what Blair is offering.

Perhaps when Reid or Jessie White are available they will take his place as a 2nd tall forward. Otherwise, I'd like to see a more attacking player like Crocker, Kirby or even Daicos given their chance. Blair is ultimately playing as a pure defensive forward, and I just think we have enough of those already. We could probably even afford one less small forward and play another back flanker...perhaps Aish when available.
