Giving it a go for the first time tonight. It's not bad at all. There's enough unique systems to set it apart from the other co-op horde modes out there.

Although there are some annoyances. First off is the camera, it feels FAR too close to the shoulder, if you have an enemy on your left you will struggle to see them.

The enemies seem to take a heap of bullets, half a clip just for base enemies at best? That's a bit much. Especially when it feels like only 5-10 bullets will knock you down.

The cover system doesn't seem to be right, putting the button for it together with the action button makes for some awkward activations of objectives. It also seems far less sticky than I'd like, find myself moving away from it way too easily.

There's a lot of stuff going on. Now obviously as someone that's coming from only limited time on ME (have only played the ME2 demo and that's it for my ME knowledge - and I do have ME2, just never opened it). Obviously it's going to take time to learn the myriad of things to do, but going in cold does definitely make for a lot of 'wtfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff' situations.

Ammo boxes. They're very clearly layed out in that whiter level, but in the yellow/orange one I couldn't find any for the life of me. As far as I know enemies don't drop ammo? So where the hell are they?! If that's the way to get more ammo, then you have to make them more obvious.

Now for the good stuff.

Graphically looks fantastic. Clean, slick and what feels like a good vision of 'the future'. Never had any framerate issues like that article FGMPR posted, that could just be the cutscenes and/or SP stuff though.

The gunplay is very sharp, really tight and controls great. Same with the powers and abilities, all of that stuff works well. Definitely a big improvement from ME2, from what I know anyway. Is now a more than competent 3rd Person Shooter.

Definitely fun enough to keep persevering with.

Downloaded the demo and gave both sections a try.
The SP was boring, maybe cause I havn't played either of the first two. The cutscenes/talking was me repeatedly pressing Sqaure to skip....

The MP however was enjoyable. Jumped in the first game with a couple of really good players, well actually one really good player.
We actually finished it. Thought it might be like zombies where it just gets harder and harder.

Anyway, after that success, I jumped in a game with HBK and not so much success. I bought a veterans pack after that game and picked up a pretty nice SMG.

That's all the fun I've had so far.
I've been using the engineer, pretty awesome to just chuck a drone out and let it go to work.

Don't think I'll get it though as it is mainly a SP game and that hasn't take my interest so far.

Robbaz - King of Sweden's commentary may have swayed me into purchasing ME3.

Is that what that orange ball thing was?

I don't know what class I chose, I think I just chose whatever seemed good, didn't really take a lot of time choosing. Maybe I'll see what's available next time.

We did well once, getting to wave 10? What's the end wave? Apart from that there were quite a lot of middle of the road finishes. But was still great fun. Would go well with some mics and being able to properly set up tactics.

Yeah, The orange ball is the drone.

If we got to wave 10, that's a fair effort. It finished after Wave 11 I'm pretty sure.
You need to learn where the ammo boxes are on that "brown" level. I saw you go like half way across the map to go get some but there was a box right where you started. lol
But yeah, I much prefer the white level.

I think you were a sentinal or vengard... dunno the difference really. You were shooting those purple pulse balls yeah that make the enemy float?

Edit: Yeah, what Jordz said, Got to defend the landing zone for like 2 mins

Yeah I only began to find the ammo boxes out after the 6th or 7th goes on that level. Still only know where 2 are though, surely there'd be more...

And yeah I was using some floating warp thing...:o Was pretty handy at times, but the flinging hand grenade type thing turned out better.

I'll have to look through and see what's most suited now that I know more mechanics a little better.

Keep in mind as you level up you can increase your damage output and health

Agreed the cover/storm/vault actions on the same button can be frustrating, but they might tweak it.

Yeah mobs don't drop ammo and they can be hard to find, but the maps are small enough that you soon learn where they are.

(anyone) feel free to send a Friend Request to "Scott Kaysee" if you want to group up. Away ATM so I won't be on again until the weekend though.

.

I'll have to look through and see what's most suited now that I know more mechanics a little better.

Soldier - straight out weapons.
Adept - straight out biotic powers.
Engineer - straight out tech powers.

Infiltrator - combo of soldier + Eng
Vanguard - combo of soldier + Bio
Sentinel - combo of Bio + Eng

This is blowing my mind. Shooting video games into outer space now.

COPIES of Mass Effect 3's special edition, the Space Edition, will be launched into orbit for fans to track, find and keep, whereupon the high altitude weather balloons and brand new data-gathering equipment used will be donated to an American university.

The mission, set up in conjunction with an accessible space exploration program run by the University of Houston and the High Altitude Balloon Club of Texas A&M University, sees balloon launches take place in San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris from February 23 onwards.

Their progress can then be tracked via the Mass Effect website. The lucky few who find a crash-landed copy first then get to play the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game before its general release during the week of March 6.

The sci-fi action adventure game promises to keep players occupied for some time to come, closing out a trilogy story arc that has regularly rubbed shoulders with entries to the BioShock, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted and Gears of War series at annual awards shows.

Roughly 2 more weeks! Can't wait! Have not downloaded the demo because I want the full experience in march!

I was thinking the same... but then thought... ME3 will be awesome anyway, I will buy it anyway, so I might as well jump in early, see the changes from ME2 and be able to hit the ground running when it launches.

Can always also just play the co-op, not really ruining anything at all, still with the ME feel.

theres only one thing I want to know about ME3 before it comes out. Is Galaxy at War in the demo, cause it seems like a cool idea but also a bit confusing as to how it works with single player considering its optional (from what i understand)

I'm still loving the MP... even thou it is only 2 maps an don the easiest bronze level.

The different classes make it interesting, plus each game (with randoms) can be so hit and miss. Get 4 players in and you should make it through to extraction, but the fewer the players the harder it is... even with 2 experienced high level toons it is challenging.

Then you have the randomized packages to unlock other character types etc.. Tryin to unlock a Krogan :(

Had a couple of laggy US hosted games/dropouts but overall I normally get a pretty good experience. Levelled my 1st Human Infiltrator to MAX level 20, tried a Drell Guardian up to level 6-7 but he sucked, and am now levelling a Human Sentinal; currently around level 12, was slow/tough going at first but am now loving it. Totally different play style. Infiltrator was a semi ranged class: lobbing grenades and using AR to cut em down. Sentinal comes with electronic armor ( that I can dentonate in crowds for splash damage), can use Warp and Throw biotics whilst using a SMG. With only a SMG my powers are almost always on so spamming Throw all over the place or combing with Warp for a biotic explosion. My SMG has some mods which allows me on fire incredible amounts of shots before reloading. So this style is much more chaotic and run and gun.

Ohhh and Phantoms are still the biggest PitA out there. Often your teams success failure will come down to dealing with Phantoms.

TIP: see a Phantom run to your squad members and focus those ****ers down.
