Was hoping to get some hours in now, because I won't be at night. But need to head into Uni i a couple of hours so most likely will have to wait till tomorrow.

Yeah mine hasn't arrived either, gettin pretty ragey

Mine is "arriving" onto my G drive as we speak.

Played an hour or two last night. Solid beginning, definitely taking a more cinematic approach, which seems to be working well.

rage that my face didn't import properly. tried to bang one up. it's close but not the same. also, smashlee looks different. i call her smashlee because I have and am again going to smash her

Smooooooooooooth

So should I fork out for this or not?

Yes if you've finished ME1/2. No if not.

Don't believe Bioware when they say that they designed ME3 as a starting point for new players as well as a conclusion to the trilogy, because it clearly has been designed as a third chapter with little thought for new players (as it should be).

So far I liked ME2 better, but I'm only jsut starting exploring now so I may have just hit a few bad planets.

The amount of cut scenes is starting to get on my nerves.

I popped into the thread to pretty much gauge the opinions of the gaming experts here on exactly this.

I have ME3, but noticed this morning that Games on Demand have 1 selling @ $15.

Clearly you would recomend playing 1 & 2 first?

Am aware 1 is a huge game.

Yep, I'd recommend forgetting all about ME3 (though you may still want to play co-op) and starting an epic trilogy run. I really can't see the point of coming into the game at #3... its exactly the same as watching a third movie in a trilogy before seeing the first two.

The whole import characters thing too I suppose. Mates tell me that the choices you make across 1 & 2 impact on 3 somewhat?

Gives some nice consistency from the sounds of it.

Though 1 is more RPG, 2 is more action?

Oh yeah, importing your old save games is a huge part of the experience. People that can die in ME1 can show up in ME3, for example if your game went a different way. There are plenty of big decisions that carry over.

As for the second question, ME1 is more of an RPG than the other two games (esp ME2), however, ME1 doesn't exactly do 'RPG' very well, imo. Instead of fixing the broken RPG elements of ME1, Bioware chose to drop a lot of them and focus on the action instead. Saying that, ME1 is still a great game, its just a little rough around the edges.

ME3 has bought some of the customisation of ME1 back though. The bottom line is that they are all great games, all three games are linked as closely together as any trilogy in gaming history and you don't want to miss out on 2/3rd's of the story.

Just finished it.

**** me the ending is a letdown.

Spoilers here --> Seriously, after all that the shitty kid comes back as a vision generated by the Catalyst to give Shepard the choice to:

a) kill himself, the Reapers, the geth (who my Shep worked his ARSE OFF to save) and all other synths, and destroy the Mass Relays
b) kill himself, control the Reapers, and destroy the Mass Relays
c) kill himself, everyone lives in peace, and destroy the Mass Relays

And before someone cries HURR THE PHILOSOPHICAL IMPLICATIONS?! that's not the point. There's a few things here.

1) No conversation with Harbringer that I found. In the entire game. Where is my big ass, Shep takes on the baddest mother****ing Reaper of them all moment that they started building up in 2?? That was exactly the finale this game could have had.
2) After spending 3 games trying to get in the pants of Liara with the hope that we'd see little blue Shepards at the end, NOPE.jpg. We could have had the whole she-bang - Shep gets promoted to Admiral, retires into luxury, gets that tropical place that he and Garrus chatted about and makes lots of little baby asari Sheps that are not only crazy biotics but also badass soldiers, and thus on their genetics alone are superior to most Alliance soldiers.
3) There was actually potential to build it up into a fourth game with the way that it was building. The question was already asked regarding who controls the cycle, who wants it that way - and the game could have suggested a future for the series a la Halo 3. Weapon wipes out Reapers, everyone happily ever after, then there is some sort of message conversation between two unknown sources, along the lines of:
'A cycle has completed the crucible.'
'Is there a dominant race?'
'No. Although this species...human...one of them, a Shepard, shows extraordinary talent.'
'Are they ready for the Threat?'
'We will soon find out.'

25 hours in... EPIC so far!!!

A few minor gripes but blown away thus far.

Jeez, how many hours a day are you putting into it?!

Thu night ~ 5 hours
Fri night ~ 7 hours
Sat ~ 10 hours (3/7 morning/night)

Cleared my calendar for ME3. Long w/e here in SA, so hoping to complete 1st play through ASAP (also got an understanding/supportive Wife which helps). Will then take more time with MP and a couple other imported play throughs.

Just so much <heart> for Bioware ATM. It is absoluting amazing what that set out to achieve with ME and how they're bringing it together in ME3... and in saying this I mean 'everything' they achieving: gameplay, storyline, conceptually and technically.
