I agree. I was planning on a trilogy run sometime this year.
Not any longer unless that nonsensical POS ending is changed into something that makes some kind of sense. The ending would have been a downer if it had been logical. As it stands, it makes zero sense. WTF is this magical fairy dust turning people into cyborgs? WTF bioware. How did Joker pick up some of my crew who were with me to the end? Why is Joker bailing on us in the first place? none of it makes any sense. WORST ENDING EVER. Oh, and that little reminder to us, after buying three games to 'continue Shepard's adventures (after you killed him no less) by buying the upcoming DLC' was classless and a slap in the face, though I expect no less from this scumbag developer these days. Bioware... you officially suck.
The 'cyborgs' are from ME1. They are a result of the Reapers combining synthetics with organics to make an army they can control. Agree with the rest though.

I'll agree the ending was disappointing. Too many loopholes, not well thought through. Hell, it looks like they just said, shit shit lets finish this game already! We gots to make a Mass Effect FPS!

It's not stopping me from playing this saga. I've spent my years dedicated to the game and I reckon I'll be just as devoted to the games for years to come. But like everyone has said, absolute POS ending

And yeah that 'continue to build the legend through DLC' was a slap in the face, particularly after what had just happened

Yeah, I knew what was happening (thanks for the explanation all the same :)). My problem is with it coming about via some mystical green fairy dust.

.

After finishing this, I still wanted to play something Mass Effect but I couldn't play 3 as the ending seemed so linear there didn't seem to be a point, so I started a new character in ME:2.
ME2's ending is pretty linear though.

Structurally the stories and games as a whole are linear, it's just the details that you are able to personalize through the choices ou make.

not everyone everyone! :D

Had my first real sesh with the game last night. Left the Citadel for the 2nd time with a gazillion missions.

Really liking it though. Will get to the ending when I get to the ending but the game's looked great so far.

Such a shame that the poor ending is overshadowing the fact that it's an amazing game to play. Absolutely adored 95% of this game, fantastic gameplay, music, graphics, controls. Just about everything was on point.

And I love this tune...

Was going to make a comment about this after I'd played through again.

One of the more epic game scores I've heard.

Just started ME2, oh dear god what have I done...bye bye life....

What is the life thing you mentioned? My time away from uni and football is consumed by Mass Effect

I think the opening scene with the kids shuttle being shot down with the 'Leaving Earth' music, as well as the Liara romance scene with the 'I was Lost Without You' song might both be in my top 5 or 10 ME moments.

ME3 was easily the most enjoyable game I've ever played (not the best but the most enjoyable), the ending was a shock but I wasn't pissed off about it like some are.

Highlight to reveal -> Save the krogan? kill the krogan? Geth or Quarian? Destroy the collector base? It doesn't really matter anymore does it?

My rejection at the ending is dying down, but I'm still not seeing the value in the part 1 - 3 replay I planned for yet. Every decision made I will be thinking in the back of my mind "Doesn't really matter to me anyway" may as well just shoot wrex dead, let the gay bloke plough me up the bum, not stop the genophage, not bother gathering a strong fleet. Whatever. Just troll the whole ****in' galaxy. Like I was trolled with the PDA screen ending. What a crock.

Well those decisions do matter...
b/c they effect your War Assets and Effective Readiness scores. The endings vary slightly depending on those scores: don't have enough Reapers win, have minimal then you might win but with sacrifices (ie Shepard and/or others die), or have plenty and you win and survive.

I'm really not sure what people's expectations were regarding decisions and the endings. Impossible for Bioware to develop 50 different endings so you could have 1 uniqure ending for:... if you were a Male Shepard, who slept with Miranda (best ass BTW), Saved the Rachni, Blasted the Collectors Base, Destroyed the Geth and made Conrad cry.... and others appropriately.

No all those decisions impact on how the ME3 missions play out and what War Assets you gather and ultimately your Effective Readiness score. You EF score is basically what determines the ending. It is basically like taking one of those personality exams... you answer a series of questions and at the end it gives you a single score, which is then tied to a summary or in this case an ending.

Apparently, there is another secret ending that opens up on the 2nd play through (yet to see it myself, so can't comment)... and I do have a sneaking suspicion that Bioware will release a DLC that will offer up other additional ending options (that might appease or further peave off players).

There isn't a whole lot of deviation in the ending; they vary from having 1 to all 3 of the final decisions unlocked, and whether or not Anderson gets killed by TIM. With the war assets I would've liked to see them in action. Maybe some quick cinematics of the assets that you gained fighting the reapers. It would've been awesome to see your Blue Suns/Blood Pack/Eclipse mercs fighting alongside Krogans and Turians on the ground, with the Quarian and Geth ships fighting alongside the Volus bombardment fleet.

The secret ending has been unlocked by some people on their first play through. From what I've read you need to have an extremely high amount of war assets and galactic readiness level, and you MUST pick the destroy ending.

I got the 'secret ending' on my first playthrough.

I might've been more pissed if I didn't get it, but I never was pissed with the ending.

Question.... >
Is the secret ending the one where you see Shepard breath?
Much thanks

Yes it is. Also got it on my first play through.

Highlight to reveal -> The ending throws up so many god damn questions it's impossible to catalogue them down in one rambling. Yes I know the decisions you make effect you Military Strength but that's just a green bar and a number. You know what would be better? Instead of having minor differences in the cinematics, if you make exceptionally little effort and poor choices have an ending where everyone blows up and Sheppard doesn't even make it to the citadel. If you have an awesome EMS (like me) maybe have the fleet win the battle over Earth and have a moment of peace while more Reapers fly in from other systems. Maybe, if Sheppard surviving is cannon, have a DLC where you fly around the galaxy mostly just talking to people finding out how your decisions have shaped things in the near future, almost like playing as a councilor. We don't need 50 different endings, here are some main decisions to take in to account:

Genophage sabotage or cure it?
Save or kill the Rachnii?
Quarian or Geth or both?

They are the biggest decisions I can think of in terms of effect on the ME universe and there's a whole 7 variables.

Interesting.

Well they would have to do something, right now BioWare seem to be in damage control mode. Unfortunately, no matter what they do, people will still complain because everyone has their own story on how the series should end (or not end).

If BioWare change it, make people have to pay for it as DLC and then it's still not up to snuff... it could get seriously nasty.

We just want it to make sense, at the very least. Besides, when people shit on Bioware, its usually well deserved, eg: Dragon Age 2, the absurd amount of day 1 DLC, ripping out vital lore related content to sell as day 1 DLC and then lying about it etc.

When they do good, I'll always praise them, like I did in the Old Republic thread for bringing out Aussie servers. That was genuinely awesome and a step above what every other MMO developer has offered us Aussies, but I'm not going to sit back and accept that pathetic attempt at an ending without bitching and moaning. I mean, it may have actually worked and the trilogy could still end on a logical note, yet. That's justification enough for me.

Hoping the dlc will be in the form of forshadowing etc, and perhaps smoothing over the losing sequence.

Will be disappointed if it is scrapped wholesale for the ending(s) we all saw in our heads before the game's release, though that link seems to indicate his will not be the case. Bioware have tried something balls out, unprecedented (to my limited knowledge) in this kind of game, interesting, nowhere near perfectly executed but interesting nonetheless.

Having said that, if it is pay for dlc, you'd have to wonder if it wasn't planned this way all along. Which would be balls out for another reason entirely*

*to dip into the mouths of fat hairy crying nerds, and we would lie there and take it probably
