Match Preview: Richmond v Adelaide
WHERE & WHEN: Telstra Dome, 7:10pm AEST, Saturday, June 18
TV & RADIO: Channel 10 - Melb (7.30pm), Adel (6.30pm), Perth (6.30pm), Syd (10.45pm) Bris (7.30pm). 3AW, Triple M (Melb, Adel)
HEAD TO HEAD: Richmond 7, Adelaide 13
LAST TIME: Adelaide 21.12 (138) d. Richmond 13.8 (86), AAMI Stadium, round 20 2004

THE MEDICAL ROOM: Richmond may rest veteran forward Matthew Richardson this week because the champion spearhead is battling knee soreness. This would further deplete the Tigers' forward line, already without Nathan Brown for the season with a badly broken leg. David Rodan (knee) is the other long-term casualty while gun recruit Richard Tambling has been restricted to just four games this year because of hamstring, back and toe injuries. He is a chance to return against the Crows. Adelaide is faring well with only Graham Johncock (fractured fibula - three weeks) out, while Brett Burton (quad strain) and Tyson Edwards (leg soreness) face fitness tests.

THE STORY SO FAR: The Tigers got off to a flyer, moving to a 7-2 record after round nine before losing their past three games. They lost Brown in the last quarter of their big defeat to Melbourne and haven't won a game since, going down narrowly to West Coast and losing to their nemesis the Kangaroos. They badly need a win to put their season back on target. Adelaide has been arguably the biggest surprise packet of the season, sitting in fourth spot with a 7-5 record. The Crows lost to Geelong by just four points at Skilled Stadium in their last start.

THE WHITEBOARD: Adelaide has displayed contrasting styles in the past two weeks, thrashing Essendon with an all-out attacking approach while utilising a carry-the-ball approach in tricky windy conditions at Geelong. Richmond's poor conversion and skill errors hurt the Tigers badly in their loss to the Kangaroos. If they are forced to go in without Richardson, it will significantly disrupt 'Terry's Triangle' forward line structure. The Crows have an excellent midfield but Richmond's on-ball division has been one of the big improvers this season, particularly with Mark Coughlan fit and firing. This is Adelaide's fourth match this season at the high-scoring Telstra Dome and its win over St Kilda there in round nine showed the Crows are more than capable of playing well at the ground.

THE VERDICT: Richmond hasn't beaten Adelaide since 1999 and the Tigers will also be desperate to break their three-game losing streak this season. If Richardson is rested, all signs point to a Crows victory. And with Richmond falling away after round eight over the past three seasons, the big question is - are the Tigers a different team under new coach Terry Wallace? All will be revealed over the coming weeks. Adelaide by six points.
