He also said he was forced to resign by the Crows, as they would otherwise have sacked him.

Rendell said he had wanted to instead explain himself at a press conference, but was told by Adelaide chief executive Steven Trigg that it was too late, as "the mud would stick" to the Crows.

After several hours consideration, Rendell said he realised Trigg was right and resigned.

The now former Adelaide recruiting manager last night revealed he had been denied the chance to clarify his comments to AFL community engagement manager Jason Mifsud, but was more distraught about the possibility the publicity over his forced departure from the Crows had prompted any Aboriginal people he had met in his on- and off-field careers to consider him racist.
"I've been crying for the last 30 hours," Rendell told Channel Nine's Footy Classified.
"I don't care about the job — I'll survive, my family will survive. My greatest fear is that one of the hundreds of Aboriginal people I've met along the way over the last 35 years . . . I'd be mortified if they thought I was a racist.

Disgraceful AFC. All Demetriou and Trigg are trying to do is protect Corporate image. Rendell is honest as they come as Footy Classified tonight showed. After hearing this in its full context rather than the one line it more than tells me the AFL is corrupt. If Rendell didnt come across as thruthful then i dont know what truth is . Demetriou can just have a smirk on his face and talk about that one line.

What they have done here does not sit well with me as a supporter. I work in the corporate world and I see this everyday , that is Political correctness rather than honesty and saying how it really is. Just shows that being honest does not get you anywhere in life.

Trigg stand down and Andy D should stand down also . The next time Andrew Demetriou is introduced somewhere I hope the crowd booos him . The Vince cheering on Saturday showed the AFC that their supporters want their club to support their own.

You do realise that this is exactly what their job description instructs them to do?

I'm not sure that "corrupt" is the right word, but I am sure that Vlad is on par with John Howard for trustworthiness (and his own party labelled him the "lying rodent"). It's now patently clear that Vlad has been lying about his involvement since day 1. That doesn't necessarily equate to corruption.

You dont sledge the GWS or be mates with Grant Thomas in Vlads world.

Yes it does. It will get him the hell out of this industry, which has tonight been shown to be corrupt and piss-weak and will hopefully find him in a better place, with no-one like Demetriou in charge of things. He will soon realise this and I dare say it will be like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders and he'll be glad to be out of there.

That is a weak cop-out. There's always something you can do to make things better. You're either part of the problem, or part of the solution.

I really hope all you guys at Adelaide who are unhappy with this do something positive about it, because this whole thing stinks. You might not think you can do much on your own, but there are a lot of you and there's strength in numbers. I hope you don't hold back.

And if anyone starts up a "sack Demetriou" petition, I'm well and truly in and I'll also be happy to help get some more signatures.
