To those who criticises Wade right now, i give u 2 words, Mark Boucher; he was known as the iron hand but the team persisted with hiim and he is statistically the greatest keeper in the history of the game. Wade is a far better keeper and batsman at 24 than Boucher.

i doubt he'll ever play international cricket anyway, i think the selectors see him for what he is: a good first class cricketer.

For all wades problems he is a far far far superior keeper to Haddin. He's dropped 1 catch in about a 10 games, far better than haddin's one ever 2 innings.

He is so far ahead of baddin its hilarious people still think haddin is worth anything except the scrap heap.

Rubbish.

Boucher was picked as a keeper first and batsman 2nd. He wasn't great at the start, but he was the best they had.

lol no. Haddin and Wade are on the same level in keeping.

But hey, nice of the gross exaggeration on Haddin there... stay classy.

haddin drops how many catches? I think it was 1 ever 2 innings or 1 ever 2 games, I forget, stat was posted earlier.

Wade has dropped 1 in 12 outings.

Ludicrous made up stats are fun.

Wade may have "dropped" only one, but he's missed a catch at almost one a game. Hey I can make up stats too!

I've seen some very ordinary work from Wade with the gloves in the past (the Big Bash game at the WACA, for example) but apart from the one major error his keeping has been pretty good so far in the Green and Gold.

It will be interesting to see how it fares over the distance in a high pressure Test match, though.

I don't feel Wade's keeping is bad enough to not pick him on that basis. It may well prove to be. But so far he's been solid in his career for Australia, and you know why? Because he's a solid keeper. Just like Haddin. Seriously some of the stuff being said about Wade and Haddin is just so ****ing outrageous. Wade is not a 'far far far superior keeper to Haddin'. Haddin did not drop catches every game or two. They're both solid keepers, nowhere near the keeping level of Hartley or Nevill, but with better batting skill than those two. It's that simple. I don't see what on earth anyone is achieving by exaggerating the skill levels of Haddin and Wade. Haddin's done. He was never making it to next summer, and now he's not making it to the WI. So everyone can chill the **** out and stop trying to convince everyone else that Haddin is of the same level as Kamran Akmal, and that Matt Wade is either like a young Gilchrist, or is of the same level as Kamran Akmal. Just relax, watch Wade play and judge him on that.

Very well said, Phone.

I've read numerous comments suggesting Haddin would never have taken some of the catches that Wade has taken and I wonder if they've only started watching cricket in 2011/12. Haddin has taken some amazing diving catches, and it wasn't that long ago that he hit and 80-odd and 50-odd in test cricket.

The fact that there's a thread that's been split into a 2 part series due to the vitriol towards the man is nothing short of pathetic tbh. He was a decent keeper and a batsman who was better than his average suggests, but sadly his game started falling apart much quicker than I expected.

Wade isn't going to do much better than Haddin did, but if he scores a 50 early in his test career you'll get the typical stuff like "Haddin would never have done that!" by people who either want to troll or have only seen Haddin's last few tests.

did you miss the ashes series? haddin dropped one almost every innings. They ran a count on this forum...

I was too busy howling at the moon over the skipper and vice-skipper's batting to notice more than 2 or 3 errors from the wickie.

And can people just stop bringing the Ashes up so blithely? I may never recover from day 1 Melbourne plus we don't have decent spin bowlers or half- decent batsmen. Chances are, we'll get another kicking over here.

Wade lost us today's game. We were cruising to victory but his inability to handle pressure at this level, poor decision making and desire to be the hero handed the game to the Windies. Have been a fan, but let's move on.

The failure of the top order, outside of Warner, handed the game to the Windies (Pattinson's 2 overs for 34 runs didn't help either).

Probably would have won easily if they kept their best opening combination, that includes the bloke averaging 41 @ 147 sr

It wasn't a good innings, indeed the end to it was pretty pathetic, but Doherty going for 10 runs an over, Pattinson 17, and Bailey and Hussey also somehow getting out to Samuels, are probably better reasons for the loss. Although Doherty took a wicket for once (literally for once, first wicket in 4 T20I's)

"Powell was turfed by Watson at third slip, before Nkrumah Bonner fenced outside off stump and the edge eluded Peter Nevill, nervous in his first match as an Australian gloveman."

ZOMG he can't keep becuase he dropped one chance, lets all jduge and redciule his keeping for ever ........... :p

He dropped a catch in the second innings as well. I'm not saying he's a bad keeper, he's normally a very good one, but two drops in two innings is as many drops/watching it between him and first slip as Wade has in 22 innings.

I heard today that Wade's mother and Jeremy Howe's mother are sisters. Pretty interesting.

I've not managed to catch much cricket, how's Wadey doing in the Indies?

More of the same. He hasn't quite nailed the spot down. But it's like the Mooney/Hawkins dilemma we faced mid year last year. Output from both is roughly the same, one however has a fair bit of upside while the other is finished.

bit of a brain explosion shot with 15 or so runs to get this morning....

keeping seemed solid from what i saw but i watched **** all of this test admittedly.

Wade kept very well. He let through 12 byes in the first innings, but he was very nervous. Didn't miss any chances and was otherwise tidy.

In the 2nd innings he let through 4 byes, but he had no chance of getting to it, and I doubt many keepers would have got a glove on it (he didn't).

Good tidy debut behind the stumps in general, but his shot to get out in the first innings was woeful and Haddin like - aiming a big airy drive at a wide one when he needed to be circumspect.

His 2nd innings shot was bad, but the circumstances warranted the shot and he shouldn't be judged on it

???

19 to go with 5 wickets in hand i wouldn't be looking at the heave over the top... admittedly huss tried the same an over or so later and it went for six so a lot of these things can come down to execution i guess....
