Clarke has just painted himself into a pretty tight corner.

"Thanks for the ton Wadey but Haddin's my mate and his kid has been sick and I feel sorry for him so...bugger off."

How's this any different to Clarke saying that Ponting's is secure for the home summer? Ridiculous and completely strategic by Clarke to secure his own future when the bells toll for him.

Say what???

I think you are all getting worked up about nothing with Clarke's mumblings at the press..

Just think about the nonsense he has spouted before. He treats the press like Facebook. Whatever's in his head at that moment he's happy to 'post'.

He could be singing quite a different song come the next test series.

yeah people take way too much stock into what Pup says to the Media. Of course he is going to say that the guy who was picked for the tour as first wickie would be the wickie next series. why wouldnt he? prior to today Wade hadn't done anything of note batting wise....

and as others have said clarke is but 1 of 5. its not the be all and end all.

Yes, the "trial period" has now officially expired.

He's our new long-term keeper. :thumbsu:

Because he makes one score? yet is still a very ordinary wicketkeeper? Sure that makes sense..

Obviously you haven't seen any of this series.
Very clean behind the stumps, run along troll.

He is still ordinary behind the stumps and always will be. Batsman first, wicket keeper second.

This is actually scary.........I hadn't seen 1 minute of the cricket last night and last night I had a dream that Wade made a ton

Superstitions aside, what a great knock from young Matty. His keeping, from what I've seen and heard has been good enough and now having solidified himself with the bat hopefully we never have to see Brad Haddin again.

Are you trying to tell us Haddin is a vastly superior keeper?
No. Just that Haddin was doing the same thing just over a year ago and people wanted him out of the team still. Now Wade is playing the exact same way and it is long live the king. Schizo forum at times.

You wouldn't give Wade praise if he made a double hundred and caught everything that came his way.

Considering how our batting has collapse every innings this test series he has done a fabulous job:thumbsu:

Poor Bradesman.

I predicted pretty much word-for-word what his excuses would be in the other thread. Good to see he didn't let us down :thumbsu::thumbsu:

There is one little difference though.

Wade's a young bloke whose keeping is continually improving.

Haddin is almost as old as me, was never a great keeper to start with, and has deteriorated.

Ignoring everything else is your post, because I haven't seen any of the series, the bolded is a moronic statement. Regardless of Wade's current ability (which was much better than I expected over the Australian summer - he was very clean, although not as good as Hartley who I'd love to see in a baggy green), the simple truth is that he will spend countless hours training and practicing his keeping, and to say he will not or can not improve is just dumb.

Yep exactly. Dumb post is dumb. Moving right along now.

Cool. I'm going to go outside now and spend countless hours hitting a golf ball. That Green jacket is only a few years away!

Wade is just 24 and is currently keeping on ordinary pitches with uneven pace and bounce. Is Haddin who will be 35 in the next Test series, a better option? **** no!!

What's the bet that Brade has never actually watched a single first class game and he is only basing his entire opinion on his personal bias against Wade and what certain commentators have said in the media?

Haddin was just over 30 when they picked him for tests, whilst Gilly was 28. Being Hartley's age shouldn't be an impediment to being picked in the test side, especially if you can get 4 or so years out of him.

Yeah, but Haddin at that point had no competition at all. Graham Manou was next best after him... Now Australia has two or three keepers that are arguably better than Hartley in an all-round sense, and are younger.

Sorry but if this inninngs doesn't end Haddin's career in a baggy green, then it is officially a joke.

Here is the point.

And here are you.

The experiment you are talking about is currently being done, so time will tell. Wade isn't exactly coming from a long way back - he's a wicketkeeper, if not a great one (personally don't know, haven't seen him in longer form), so comparing it with you becoming a professional golfer is a bit of a stretch. And by a bit of a stretch, I mean you'd have a better chance of ducking to the moon to grab the golf ball that bloke hit.

Probably not a bad idea because you won't get much enjoyment out of watching the cricket over the coming years with Wade keeping wickets for Australia.

The only Australian to make a century so far in this series & yet you still knock him. This says more about you than anything to do with Wade's wicket-keeping & batting.

Haddin batted responsibly 12 months ago?
Must be watching a different Brad Haddin to everybody else.
