Melbourne Board Feedback

We're trying to look at ways to make the Melbourne board here on Bigfooty bigger and better in season 2009. As part of this we are looking for user feedback in a number of areas, if you could take the time and respond to these either here or by PMing me that would be great.

In addition I'm looking for someone to take on a spec mod role on the change rooms sub forum, if you're interested in that then fire me a PM.

Q1. Intelligent discussion, there's barely any morons here although there are a couple.

Q2. All the draft pick talk, save it for the end of the year.

Q3. Less draft pick talk at this early stage of the season, talk about the players we have not the players we will get.

Q4. Teh Marns is ghey.

Number 4 really needs to be addressed.

I think the small core of posters is the best asset. Leaves out the teenybopper 15-year-olds with ILUVROBBO24 nicknames you find on 'other' sites.

Perhaps, but for every few ILUVROBBO's, you get a quality poster. The spammers and trolls can be dealt with also.

We've got a zero tolerance policy here for it, if you see any trouble makers report the post/let me know. If you think we're too easy on them we can do a simple board ban on sight, depending on the severity I usually give a single warning first.

1. What do you like about our Board? Loyal fans of the Dees who know their shit, without being hooray for everything CraigSmokers and psychos. There is always 2 sides to arguments.

3. Can you suggest anything that would improve our Board? Intraboard tipping or banning for any 'innocent' posters who come on after they have beaten us saying we played well and thanking us. Not fooling anybody...

I think the MFC board is going well, was good to see us hit 100,000 posts. FINALLY!

Our board is always pretty quiet which can be pretty boring. Maybe thats just because of our current position on the ladder. I'm sure once we start winning the board will become more popular.

Wouldnt mind abit more sh1t sturing from 'Malodeez'. Always entertaining!

1. Smaller numbers, but better quality. The Carlton and Collingwood boards are a mess.

2. Trade talk during the season. We're stuck with the players we have untill at least the end of the season, so why not talk about how they can get better rather than say that the writing's on the wall already.

I like only having a small bunch of regular posters. You get to know them better and can hold better conversations.

Like- Intelligent posters and often agree with much of what is written or can see the other perspective
- Most post when not negative are self depreciating and often very funny
Dislike- I know we are struggling but the posts can be really negative a times
- Not always huge variety in discussions
Improvement- Come down harder on morons from other clubs who take cheap shots and add nothing to the discussion

Conversely, it is always a cheap thrill to post on the Carlton Board - Fort Apache - to ascertain to what degree one can get away with slinging shit.

Would it be an idea to relax the rules somewhere here?

Real arse-clowns could always be terminated.

- Decent group of core posters, not too many toddlers though a couple this year that might need to reined in.
- SM's Blog, not given enough credit.
- Jack Watts anything.
- The laissez-faire attitude of the moderators.

2. What do you dislike about our Board?
- Not enough threads (shit side syndrome?)
- Tank-talk / Draft talk in April. Should be a ban.
- Premiership talk (cross that bridge...)
- Juice hate
- Optimists.
- Dez.
- Having to scroll down so far to get to it. Lets have it higher up.
- We cop a fair whack from opposition supporters, not enough of a concerted effort to do likewise elsewhere.
- The word "potential". I'd like it censored.

3. Can you suggest anything that would improve our Board?
- Suggest to the Chief having the clubs in order of when they entered the competition, rather than this overly arbitrary alphabetical system in place at the moment.
- More threads.
- More Juice-love.
- Probably a few more older posters, I love you too Kiddies but we've lost a couple of our better posters in the last year and a bit. They need replacement. Is there a draft system in place? We'd be due a few priorities I reckon.
- Set threads after every game, one for votes, one for "slaps and sledges", one for discussion of coaching moves etc. Just something consistent so you know where to go to say what.

I'm not usually one for surveys, but I'll respond to this one due to the limited number of open-ended items

1. What do you like about our Board?

- The fact that there is a small group of posters who have a good knowledge of the game and the club
- As a result of the point above, good discussion is generally created
- Most of the more 'casual' posters are pretty good too, and when they aren't so great it creates some light entertainment anyway

2. What do you dislike about our Board?

- Not many threads
- Some of the threads made do not have much substance behind them, in the sense that it is difficult to develop a quality discussion stemming from the initial post

3. Can you suggest anything that would improve our Board?

- A greater number of threads
- I like BC's idea about an organised system after the conclusion of a match, it would probably be of use prior to the following match as well

4. Any other comments you would like to add?

- I don't mind trade and draft talk at any point in the season, sure it may be futile, but we need something to keep our posters interested, and something positive to look forward to.

1. What do you like about our Board? Probabley the regulars, who know their shit about 80's and 90's demons. RickJames back in his glory days, i know he's still around, but it's not the same

2. What do you dislike about our Board? Me not posting enough on here, due to being banned every second day, by that **** load Fred. Also that there arn't enough BF demons are posting over at TLC

I agree, I said a similar thing on the zero trolling thread.

Maybe we could have a sticky thread for those who want to troll us, those who don't like to read that sort of stuff just don't go into the thread. Those who want to post crap just to incite or argue outside this thread can be banned.

I'm sure it would bring a bit more activity to the board & a bit of fun to those like Biff.
