When around my girlfriend I've considered myself quite attentive. This was the second time I went to the football with her but this time I literally didn't hear her. A couple of times she said, "Dan! What did I just say?" One time I guessed right. But the other four times I tried the same thing and was wrong.Leaping Lindner said:He was obviously paying more attention than us!![]()

Where were you guys all sitting? I was in Bay 3 near the Carlton Social Club, up against the fence. It was right where Stevens took that kick when he was stirring up the d**kheads sitting right behind me.

Although I was in the sausage sizzle line when Stevo was giving it to those Melbourne fans. I couldn't believe I was at a trial game the way some of those Melbourne supporters were getting stuck into the umpire. Talk about over the top. They were acting like it was the Grand Final and Stevo had just been awarded a kick after the siren to win us the game. Save your energy guys....it's only March.
I sat on the opposite wing for the last quarter and there were three boofhead Melbourne supporters next to me getting stuck into M Stevo until he went off injured. I took exception when they labelled him the worst player in the comp (WTF!), and said that he only got touches from free kicks (WTF!) and fired a few barbs at them. I said S Stevo is quite possibly the worst player in the comp, but M Stevo? Get yerselves right to f**k!Leaping Lindner said:We (Maccas_no1, Lia loves Roo and myself) were on the wing almost directly behind the Adelaide bench. One thing I was distictly pleased about was hearing the name of Meesen marking in the forward lines. Had about four or five, muffed a couple of goals from set shots but ...........could we now have a future ruckman that reads the ball in the forward line and creates havoc for the opposition?
Bloody well hope so.

Bockchoy67 said:I actually think Maric will be the kind who will be a dangerous forward in the future. He's got great size, has good athleticism and has a knack for kicking goals. His TAC Cup form showed that he was a great prospect in the forward line, as well as being a solid ruckman.
Meesen definitely has the edge around the ground and in marking ability. Personally I can't wait to see how both turn out for the AFC.![]()

macca23 said:It's a pity we haven't had a chance to have a look at Maric yet, although his newness in the game always meant he would be a good couple of years away before he was anywhere near ready for AFL as a ruckman.
But he's definitely got a pretty solid body on him, and based on his TAC Cup history, as you say he likes to kick a goal or two and has the attributes to play as a forward.
It'll be interesting to watch his progress over the next 2 years, as it was widely said pre-draft that whatever team took the gamble on him was potentially acquiring a lot of up side.
footydraft.com said:Ivan Maric
Details:
Club: Keilor/Calder
DOB: 4 January 1986 Hgt: 197cm Wgt: 95kg
Position: Ruck
Natural Foot: Right
Honours:
Victoria Metro 2004
State Screening Camp 2003
National Draft Camp 2004
TAC Stats:
2003: 8 games, 2 goals, 8.3 PPG
2004: 18 games, 24 goals, 11.1 PPG
Strengths: Maric is a developing ruckman who has only been playing football for a couple of years, concentrating on basketball before this. His improvement has been noticeable over the past 12 months, and I feel he still has a lot of scope for improvement.
Maric is surprisingly agile for a big man and has a good leap. He is very good at getting his hands free and dishing off, and his tapwork has really improved. Big Ivan also covers a fair bit of ground and takes a lot of marks. He has good poise and although he is a gamble, I feel he has the potential to be a long-term player. Can also be used up forward where he can kick goals.
Weaknesses: Maric’s kicking is still questionable, and he prefers to handball at every opportunity. The real question with Ivan is how much improvement is left? He still has a lot to learn about the game and his decision-making needs work.
Footydraft.com comment: Very much a project ruckman, there could be a rich reward for the club willing to select Maric if he continues his current improvement. However, it might be a gamble taking him so early in the draft.
