Melbourne: what do we make of them

You've said repeatedly that Melbourne traded Hogan for May, before changing your mind before changing it back.
They did trade Hogan for May.

They traded Hogan in one trade to get pick 6 to pass on in a separate trade for May.

It’s ok I won’t confuse you anymore.

Haven’t been involved in this chat at all. But I’m confused reading pages and pages of this about what your point is exactly?
  • Are you saying we should’ve kept the pick? That we’d be better off with someone from the draft instead of May in 2021?
  • Are you saying May was the wrong person to trade for?
  • Melbourne might rue the trade in 10 years if Butters is a star?
Like, I don’t get what the point of talking about this trade actually is in the context of Melbourne right now?
I am making the very elementary point that the price paid for May is complicated by the talent you left on the table when you traded pick 6 i.e. King, Smith, Butters. As a result, that trade will be judged accordingly in the longer term. And some folks have taken issue with that.

Yeah I get what you’re saying, but I don’t understand why you’re saying it in the context of Melbourne 2021 and what we make of them?

Like, are you saying that this was a bad choice for where Melbourne are at right now? Are you saying it’s a good choice?

What’s the context in relation to the thread apart from just stating a fact?Otherwise we may as well go into the West Coast 2021 thread and just say “pick 61 and future pick for Hickey”. Like, doesn’t really add anything in imo.

Here's the context. Some folks found the part about the May trade unreasonable. You be the judge.

As for Hickey, if you go back to the thread from last year's trade period, you'll find me arguing quite trenchantly that WC should have asked for more. Hickey was contracted and would have been picked before Vardy this year. Not sure why WC let him go so cheap. You'll get no argument from me there.

Stop replying to him please I don't even need to see ignored content to know who is clogging up threads with his strawman arguments.
Seriously, do you even know what a strawman is? Or do you just think calling something a strawman when you don't like it is a winner? It's nonsensical.

I'll leave it at that unless anyone has further questions.

You forewent the opportunity to draft King, Smith or Butters.

You might say that's fair enough, it was worth it. But to say you didn't forego anything is simply not true.
Does it make you feel warm and gooshy to be that annoying uncle at the family BBQ where people say ‘hey look! A tree! I’ll talk to you later uncle sweet’?
You’ve been answered again and again Unc. We are very happy with the trade. You, for your own weird reasons, think what coulda been. Let it go. It’s just you that cares and the rest of us couldn’t care less about your wank feat if it climbed out of your bum, sung waltzing Matilda and rode a unicorn.

Have you been drinking, Stabby?

But we have to think what pick 6 may have been.

You could have traded pick 6 for 2 future picks, then swapped them for pick 3, traded pick 3 and pick ? for 2 future picks, then traded them for pick 1, jeeze in 10 years, imagine the player you would get.

He doesn't have a point, he just argues semantics on every thread and bores the hell out of everyone

Melbourne look good.

Bulldogs look good.

Its April.

Both up n about but have they got the end of September stuff.

History says no.

Richmond still the team to beat

I don’t think supporters of either side would contest that. Richmond is the yardstick until they can’t possibly be there. I wouldn’t bet against them even if they finish 8th

same

My thoughts are until Richmond have been elimimated from the race then they are rightfully favourites.

I said in another thread if Richmond dont win it it will be refreshing no matter who does. Even if its another team that shits you to tears [emoji23]
