I have a feeling that Neale Daniher will be throwing our second pick (#5) around in Trade Week. Just to get an indication, which player(s) would you be offering from your club to get this early selection?

I would look at trading it for Nathan Brown, but that is wishful thinking!

Didn't Melbourne get rid or Woewodin last year becoz of salary cap pressures? and aren't they still paying a percentage of that? if so i don't see what's changed that could make them squeeze in an extra 400 thousand in the budget.

We lost Woewodin and Powell, that equals a healthy $700,000 of the salary cap.

I think we can get one big name player.

Melbourne wouldn't do it but I'd offer something like pick #7 and your choice of Kingsley or Mooney for pick #5.

Wind the clock back a few weeks and it could of been us in Melbourne's position :(

North have pick #9, so there's not much difference to trade up to pick #5, and certainly nothing worth trading up for.

Then again, what do we have that has significant trade value?

Under consideration would be Smith, Teague, Rocca, Morrell, Robbins, S.Motlop, Makepeace etc... nobody worth a pick in the first 2 rounds.

Unless Harvey, Grant, Simpson, D.Motlop, Petrie etc. leave we are not in the hunt for a traded first round pick, and with those names bandied about, I wouldnt want us to be.

Dylan Smith and Teague..

(Smith was taken at #6, he is obvious quality)

Go Roos
Doubt it.

I'm interested in Smith, but I wouldn't give up a #5 pick for him. Teague would struggle to get a game at Melbourne.

Same goes for Heath Black and Steven Lawrence.

I probably wouldn't take your deal either Unwritten_Law.

But I'm not Neale Daniher.

If Nick Stevens wants to go back to Melbourne, we'll let you have him for that No. 5 pick and Scott Thompson.
Best offer yet. I really rate Thommo so probably no, but it's hard to knock back Nick Stevens.

Scott's a Port Adelaide boy - he'd be able to reach his potential at his original club...if he can get a game in front of Brett Ebert :D

Stuff trading pick 5, I'd use it on Farren Ray from the Peel Thunder in the WAFL. I reckon the kid will be a superstar by the time he's twenty three.

How about Brown for your number 5 selection and Daniel Bell or Nick Smith ?

Short answer... no.

A 23 year old Bell could win us a Premiership. He has everything. Skill, speed, strength and poise. We would be crazy to get rid of him. And while Smith's pace is a worry, he has done enough to suggest he will be handy CHF in future years.

Pick 5 + Lamb (devastated to see him go but deserves a chance) for Brown interest you?

What are the chances of Lamb getting over to Arden St (Maybe for Smith?!?!)

We need a FB, Watt looked alot happier up the ground then he does at FB (then again.. it was a very simple game for most of the Roos on Sunday..)
Lamb sounds like he is a competent enough FB.. (and he seemed to play competently enough at FB last year) Would release Watt further up the ground.. and everyone would be happy.

Go Roos

Lamb for Smith.

Both talented, but out of favour.

Commentary at Melbourne game next year.

Nathan Brown handballs to Nathan Brown then back to Nathan Brown.:D

So you'd accept that?

Lamb is one of my favourite players and it would be sad to see him go, but I would much rather see him play 22 senior games at a different club, than play in the VFL while at Melbourne.

Go Lamby!!

I heard the Bulldogs were talking to Smith so I watched him on Saturday.

Seemed to spend a lot of time nearly getting the ball. Most of his possessions (and I was suprised to see he got about 21) seemed to be little 1 metre jobs from off his hands and knees. Rarely accepts a handball (query pace) but his skills looked OK when he had time.

Certainly the type of inside midfielder we need, but I don't think he's very good. Probably worth a chance for the Dogs or the Dees, but you wouldn't give up too much.

Also watched Lamb at the same time. He did nothing wrong, although he's not very attacking. I'd be happy to give him a chance as well.
