I e mailed the club last night, as i was a little pissed i hadn't seen an e mail- below is the response i received today, which i'm pleasantly surprised they responded so quickly.

It's funny, I felt more generous towards the club before they had that % breakdown and 50%+ was just one option. Thought that was very cheeky.

I also think they were a little cheeky. One must remember that not all members play the same, I pay near $4800 for four seats. I'm happy for the club to work there way through this issue and come up with a reasonable solution. Come December, if the solution amounts to nothing serious and then if they are going to send me a new invoice for what I imagine will be more than $4800 for 4 tickets for season 2021, I will no longer be a member!

Interesting thou, I am also a 3 game member for the other mob (I get the Derby ticket and give away the other two) and haven't heard a thing from them, very little comms and certainly no survey at this stage!

As for the club having bucket loads of money, not going to help a lot if the AFL limits the clubs ability to do anything with it. Might as well be as broke as St Kilda since they are hacking away off field appointments etc.
 


Bombers also doing a campaign where you can donate to help a member with financial difficulties keep their membership.


I didn't understand while all our players were in lockdown why they couldn't at least chuck some signed merch out to our members. Might stave some off asking for a refund
 
Just got an email from the club with options. Predictably, the link to details on Ticketmaster doesn't work.
Lol, I had the same problem.

In short, you can:

  • Pledge/donate your membership
  • Credit for 2021 for all matches that supporters can't attend (note: I assume this won't be for all 11 games because they won't get 11 home games)
  • Pause: downgrade to a home supporter for 2020. I assume this is only relevant for this on payment plans (ie haven't paid upfront)
  • Cancel: not sure if this is how you get a refund, or if it is just an option that allows you to stop payment for those who haven't paid upfront
I haven't seen the details yet as the link doesn't work (that has the details)
 
I'm going to Donate, but would like the mooted hard cap on football department spend to be gone. I want to support my club, not have it distributed to other clubs because we make a large profit (because we can't spend money where we want to)

I think the club have done this really well. I like the pledge options - 25, 50, 75 or 100% with the rest going as a credit.

Leaning towards 50%
 
I can't afford to do that given everything that is going on (long story short but one week I was assured of a 12 month contract extension, the next week covid-19 really hit the fan so that was yanked from under me. Contract now ends in two weeks :( ) but I hope you guys get some sort of recognition for doing so.

If I was in the same boat I would be doing the same!!
 
Why would you choose Cancel over Pause? Sounds like it's only $15 difference but you lose your membership status.
Yeah, wouldn't be a smart move. But I guess the feel they need to give the option.

Thanks man. I should be able to find something, and my wife's job is safe, which is why I don't want to cancel our memberships completely, but it's nice that I can get credit for next year. One less thing to worry about!
