Where abouts is Rory Sloane going to be picked? he would be a very valuable asset to Essendon as a medium defender who can also double as a midfielder

Right back on the Hurley bandwagon. 3.01 is good enough for me to want him at pick 5. If we can snare another 1st rounder then I'd be happy to take Swift with that second 1st rounder as he have a for of insurance. I'll trust the club to make the right judgement over some of the boys injuries like Swift and Trengrove.

What has been getting me going in the last couple of days is the thought of our spine being:

FB:Hurley
CHB:Ryder
C:Myers
CHF:Gumbleton
FF:Neagle

All 1st round picks except for Neagle and I truly believe that is a Premiership winning spine. I would love to see that in 2010-11. Cannot see another team having such a superb spine.

Swift is the most interesting proposition in the draft.

Few people have seen him play since the Under 16's where he was the dominant player.

I believe that he was no 1 for clearances, contested possessions, overall possessions and 1 or 2 other categories.

He tested well in the 20m sprint at the Draft Camp, which suggests that he could be an inside and outside midfielder.

Inside and midfield midfielders are ' Gold '.

EFC could take a risk and select him if they end up with 2 first round draft picks.

I really like the look of Sidebottom. Seems to have some real class.
But I think that we should be looking at:

Pick Five: Hurley (KPP) or Ziebell (MID)
Pick Twelve (Maybe) Swift (MID) or Trengrove (KPP)
Pick Twenty Three (maybe): A player such as Suban or O'Keefe

Tell you what, I love the look of both Zaharakis and Schoenmakers, one of which could still be there when our second pick comes along...

Hartlett can also play both inside and outside and he is very quick as well. But havent seen people talking a lot about him lately.

Hartlett will be a very good player but I think that he may slide down the draft order a bit. No doubt he'll get picked up maybe 7-8th. But at the highest he'll probably go fourth to PA.

I'm more interested in Hurley or Ziebell though.

You didn't catch his finals series for Murray did you? Im not just talking about the Grand Final, I mean all 4 games in which he was best on 3 times and in the top 3 in the other. Was the difference when they played Eastern Ranges.

I'm not complaining, it was merely an observation ;)

I'd love to have him at Essendon, but I'd prefer Hurley.

Emma Quayle's draft camp summary

THE DEFENDERS

"Michael Hurley isn't quick, clocking a smidgen over three seconds in the 20-metre sprint. So the clubs considering him as a key back will have to weigh his speed off the mark versus his long list of attributes — his precise, long kicking; his aggression, poise, ability to grab a mark at key moments and to go forward if needed. Essendon and Carlton could do with key defenders and he'll be in their thinking".

Didn't someone say he ran under 3 seconds? According Emma he didn't...

nah Sidy the man mate,

Haha, I'd be happy with either mate.
I just think that there are some good midfield options later in the draft. Hurley has been arguably the best defender in the last two championships.

As I said though, I wouldn't be disappointed with Sidebottom.

If we want Hurley, if he's rated right up there on our list, he should be available at our first pick because there is some growing momentum that Vickery will get picked up by Port a pick before us.

Here's a quote from the AFL website stating the probability of Vickery getting picked up by the Power ;

AFL Website said:
Vickery, touted as a top-four selection, could be heading to Port Adelaide, if the Power does not trade their No.4 pick during next week's exchange period. But the impressive ruckman is not perturbed about a shift across the border.

They also wanted Stephen Motlop
and its not like they need a ruckman.

I'd Rather Sidebottom, he'd probably go top 3 in many other drafts
so if we get him it'd be a Steele
lol

My Preferances for 5th pick are:

1: Hurley
2: Hartlett
3: Ziebell
4: Sidebottom (One HUGE game just isn't enough)
5: Trengove

As for any other 1st round pick we obtain... We should have a shot a Trengove...

I'm liking it.
Mine would probably go:

Hurley
Ziebell
Sidebottom
Hartlett

Second first rounder if we get it, I'd take a punt on Swift. If we pick up Hurley with pick five, then I think we should draft a midfielder with the other pick. Vice versa.
