Best thing all round I think.

There will be a loss of IP, but this will be offset by a fresher atmosphere, much like Geelong had this year.

Good decision MM

What is IP Mean?

I agree I can see Bucks doing what Scott did to Geelong this season

Good riddens, seriously. He agreed to a contract 2 years ago, and decided to stay on as coach for the first part of that contract, then when it came to something that was for the betterment of this football club, and not himself, he decided to run. I'm extremely disappointed as a Collingwood supporter in Michael Malthouse. He has a large paying contract with the footy club, and he is choosing not to honour it. We don't need that at the Collingwood Football Club. I might sound like I'm overdoing it, but its the truth, and Collingwood supporters choose not to see it because he won us a flag last year.

I did think that it was Piss Weak for him to Just Walk out like That when he Signed for 3 more Seasons then Quits Straight Away

I agree...I have been a supporter of MM and loved him as our coach BUT his timing at the press conference is BS. It's like taking a jab at his employer when he has a contract to honor.

I suspect the club has know all along that MMs stubborness and selfishness may be wearing thin.

He was outcoached today by Scott...why the fck didnt he drop someone in front of Hawkins or move Taz on him???? I don't get it.

Because he is too Stubborn and does not want to Admit to Mistakes he has made

Taz was put on Johnson and he took him out of the game, Reid was on one leg and couldn't stop Hawkins because they were winning all the clearances. I thought Goldsack should've been picked to play a defensive role of Scarlett and also provide some flexibility down back.

Pretty selfish of Mick, 2yrs ago he was almost out the door, was given an extra 2 yrs when majority of people were saying we should get rid of him. He should've stayed for at least next year to see if it would work, if it wasn't, that's ok to walk away.

Thanks for the memories MM.

Could have left it a few days though. Been a GAJ Jnr / Bomber Thompson - esque soap opera for us in the latter half of the year.

Hopefully we get a clean run next year.

Good luck in your retirement Mick, the people saying why he didn't move Reid as he has backed him all season and you don't change now.

He would never change anyway and never does during Games

I think it would have been extremely difficult in practice having Bucks trying to stamp his influence on the new era, with MM wafting around.

Perhaps if everything was humming along smoothly it coulda worked, but certainly if things got wobbly, that's when even the tiniest conversation or suggestion could have been construed as divisive and hence extremely damaging.

Very pleased the correct decision (IMO) has been made.

Plus, maybe harsh, but perhaps his better coaching days are behind him now...he was outcoached today, as he was against Hawks last week.

back the f*** off ppl. He wasn't given anything to do. Would Buckley have him in the coaches box - no. At training - no. At the selection table - no. WHat the F was there left to do? Not leaving him anything meaningful to do was NOT in the spirit of this agreement. And there's more to it too, but that's all I'll say now.

Either spill the beans or leave the beans unmentioned.

Does this mean Rodney Eade is In?
That's the strong rumour, nothing will be announced until Wednesday or Thursday though, Eddie, rightfully so has said we should allow the Cats a few days in the headlines, before we steal them right back.;):)

Right decision for all parties. Bucks can be Bucks while Mick can go forth and do whatever he likes with his future endeavors. I for one wouldnt mind if he decided to coach again as he obviously still has the hunger. Every man has a price eh?

He brought me Premiership glory and for that I'm forever grateful. Thanks a lot Mick for the great memories you have given me and the bad ones. (that spray on Anzac Day :p)

If it is True Wouldn't Eade be already Working with the Club as Draft Combine Starts on Tuesday?

Don't be stupid.

I haven't read the article but I'm assuming that the club would have known for a while now. They've stated earlier in the year, that they will assess what that position means and what it's role is and whether Mick or the club finds it worthy then they will go ahead with it. Obviously Mick does not think that this role will be a positive for the club. He's not running, why would he stay and get in the way just to fulfill his contract?

When would he mention it? Before the game? Before the finals series?

He didn't drop anybody because they were playing 1 tall forward and that was Hawkins. Apart from Hawkins, we have Tarrant and judging Hawkins form no one else would have been able to run with him. And Tarrant was on Johnson unless you suggest Reid play on Johnson or any other small/medium forward.

There's a rumour on Twitter about Mick's health. Hope he's ok - deserves a long, healthy retirement.
