Just had a quick look on the AFL website at the mid year AA squad.

Not sure if my rose colour glasses were interfering my judgement but was staggered to see only Pendles in the squad and only on the bench...

I would have hope to see Williams and maybe Elliott in the squad too.

Seems to be some maybe not so deserving players in at this point.

Hopefully by seasons end we will get a few more in the squad.

I guess it's just typical as everyone thinks our draw has been favourable and we haven't beaten "anyone" yet.

Been heaps of quality midfielders this year.

Fyfe, Hannebery, Armitage, Gray, Priddis, I. Smith (on a wing) are all contending for starting spots.

Pendles on the bench isn't a shock, but Pendles in the 18 isn't a shock either. Could go either way atm.

Elliot is a specialist small forward and is equal 12th for goals kicked, that's not exactly AA material (but not too far away).

Williams has been good in the past 2 months but needs to continue his recent form for the whole year to enter AA talks

I was surprised too but you cant argue with who is in the team. Who would the collingwood players replace?

Shiel is one who had a poor game this round and could easily drop out of he has a couple more.

Pendlebury hasn't been crash hot in every game this year. Overall he has been consistently very good with the odd incredible game and probably 1-2 poor ones out of 11. He, along with the team, needs a big next month.

I hope come early in the finals they don't name any of our players in the final 22.

In 2007 they failed to name any Pies players at all, and the players used it as motivation to upset the Eagles and almost shock the Cats in the prelim. Not impossible for something similar to happen this year.

It's us against the world after all.

It's just silly when they have Dangerfield FP instead. I get they do it every year but they need to honour the positions IMO.

The team in general was terrible, so I wouldn't be paying to much credence the opinions of the author. Pendlebury, Elliott, Williams & Swan certainly in contention for spots to this point, but their competition is stiff unfortunately.

Don’t think I could Handle a Super Close loss in a Final

In 2002 we had none and almost pinched the flag.

We'll have 1-3 players this year.

Swan a chance for AA? you can't be serious?

Some people just must look at the disposal count to see who the good players were...

He has played a few good games, maybe 1 great game and quite a few ordinary ones.

Still had a better year than Selwood :D. No chance for AA though.

I didn't have him in my team personally.

Certainly isn't in contention as a true mid. Hasn't been anywhere near good enough.

Selected at half- forward in that goal- kicking mid role he is worthy of a mention at the very least.

Crisp has been far better at that exact role this year. No one who isn't extremely biased will even mention Swan in AA squad considerations, he has been okay this year.

It's not the same role exactly. The player selected at that half- forward spot in the AA team which often goes to a goal- kicking mid is typically the type of mid who spends time playing as a genuine forward and/or dominate the inside 50 statistic. Robbie Gray last season, Patrick Dangerfield the two seasons prior to that, Dustin Martin, Luke Parker are prime examples. The difference is Crisp is a pure midfielder who has kicked goals, Swan has actually played forward on a regular basis this year. He's kicked 11 goals, and is 6th in the competition for inside 50's whilst going at 29 disposals a match. Like I said, not in my team, but in that specific role he could be in the discussion.

If you say so. Personally I could pick at least 10 Collingwood players more worthy of being in the "discussion".
