You're right, he'll take a Gunston or Darling and make them pay with superb use of the ball. Failing that during a game he can always swing forward. Let's not forget he's only 22 with a broken leg and shoulder reco behind him.
In case you're not aware, I'm one that has consistently gone into bat for Brown.
I consider it highly unlikely that Brown will forge a career as a 3rd tall defender. For one thing, most successful 3rd tall defenders are both (1) versatile enough to play on smalls also (2) former very successful key position defenders. Brown is certainly not the former and I'd argue won't be the latter.
Most likely outcome I see at this stage is Brown requesting a trade and getting a decent run at another club in the position he plays well: 2nd or 3rd tall forward. If we refuse to trade him again this year and insist on playing him back again in 2014 with little senior experience that will just about be the end of him because his currency as a player will be destroyed.
