where has it been reported that the saints are offering 800K a season, I highly doubt they would be offering that sort of money

Im not a fan of D's getting extra support from AFL but in this case its not right.

He left for personal reasons. Fair enough. But to then get paid out and come back to an array of potential suitors with the original club getting bupkis is wrong. He should go back to a contracted status with D's and be a tradable commodity for them - just to give the club something back for their loss.

Id suggest if he wants to leave then its best he does, Melbourne should be compensated given the situation.

I wouldnt be surpised if the Hawks where the ones in his ear.

A pick between 20 and 30 would probably get the deal done given his baggage.

He was on an incredible amount at the Dees, from memory it was $700K and if I'm correct (or close to it), then the Dees are entitled to ask for way more than a pick between 20 & 30 !!

No they aren't...it doesn't matter what he was on...its what clubs are willing to pay for him now...frankly he has injury concerns and he's mentally fragile. He'd be lucky to get a third round pick.

what a team has to give up in trade should in no way be decided by the amount the previous team paid said player.

just because the dees had a huge amount in their salary cap , and needed to throw a large amount to attract a player doesnt mean clubs have to compensate them for that.

what melb get in a trade for mitch clarke will depend on how keen clubs are on securing clarke.

honestly i would probably take a pick between 20 and 30. we got him for 12 a few years back and his value has dropped significantly with his injury and illness history. Not many clubs would be willing to give up much more than 30 and I'll take something over nothing if he wants to get out

If Dons are interested - surely means they might be a tad worried about Ryder or Bellchambers leaving?

If as is mooted, the Saints are offering him $800-900K per annum to join them then the Dees should be given the Saints #1 pick in exchange plus Clark has to give back the money he got from the Dees for next year too (or the Saints pay them the money across the season).

If we were that silly to give him that much and have to give up the #1 pick I might have to change teams. Would be a great pickup at FF whilst Spencer White is developing under Riewoldt's tutelage. We'd be stupid to give up the #1 pick.

I would be very surprised if anyone offers anywhere near 800k a season. It would need to be a contract with terms for minimum amount of games etc for that kind of money to happen.
Would have kicked close to 60 goals at least in his first year at Melbourne if not for injury. A club would be hesitant to pay too much with his injury history.

Clarks manager on SEN an hour or so said that he has definitely not ruled out playing for Melbourne, he said he met with Clark Friday were he said confirmed he was keen to give a comeback a crack.

He said he was meeting Roo's today or tomorrow to discuss where Melbourne is at with him. From their he will know where he stands.

Roosy's just said on 360 that he met with Clark today. Talked more about his health, etc, than the likelihood of a comeback and/or who it would be with.

I'm pretty proud of how the club has handled Mitch this year, at all times it's pretty obvious that his well being has been the most important aspect and they have done everything that could to ensure it.

This has AFL mediation between 2 clubs all over it :p

Dees probably want top 20 pick, new club wants PSD.....

I'd be offering somewhere between pick 20 - 40, when you consider:

27 and a half before next season starts
4 games in 2013, 0 in 2014 and only 97 over his career
Severe foot injuries
Mental issues that caused him to retire

Excess baggage anyone o_O

He is gone . You really dont understand AFL football you Demons supporters. Its a ruthless brutal sport.

As I said above Hawks lead the race. Dont expect much. Hope the Cats go easier on you and your Demon mates. ;)

As your own CEO Peter Jackson said and I quote the MFC " has a toxic culture". Best thing for Mitch is to move on to a club that the supporters respect the players.
