The 20-year-old said he wanted to be part of the next dynasty at the Cats alongside his fellow 2009 draftees Daniel Menzel, Allen Christensen, Nathan Vardy and Josh Cowan.

"We want to be like the Jimmy Bartels, the Stevie Js (Steve Johnson) and Lingys (Cameron Ling) coming through the team for the next 10 years," Duncan said.
"We've all said that and hopefully we can stick together and play a lot of good footy.
"I've just bought a house so I won't be moving anywhere for a long time."

:)

Bought a house at 20 while the world crumbles around him financially!

Another gun player that the club has wrapped in it's culture, loyal and going to bring a lot of success to the team :thumbsu:

2012 and onwards is so exciting :D

Stories like this one reaffirm the belief that players are inherently loyal and don't really want to leave clubs they get a start with.

Thank you Mitch for showing that not all players just worry about grabbing as much cash as they can from whomever they can get it from

Great news. I have rated this guy even ahead of Menzel - from what I have seen and read about him. I think he will be a very good long term player for us.

And who knows if he and Christensen play well in the finals ? Both capable of getting 25 touches and kicking a few goals. Could be one of the reasons we get up this year - if that happened.

I'd say both players are in our best 22 at the moment. I can't see any reason why either would be dropped for the finals. They made a fatal error in dropping the kids last season, even allowing for the fact that footy clubs are terribly slow at learning lessons, they've got to play this year.

In fact, you could probably argue Menzel and Taylor Hunt need to be included somehow too. Can't take last year's side into the finals. Recipe for disaster.

This is BLOODY GREAT news, I look forward to Duncan Menzel Vardy Bundy Poodle etc all staying here for the long term :thumbsu:

(edited for emphasis)

Did Mitch buy Gazza's old joint!!!! LOL

but seriously....

Awesome that the younger players are buying into the Geelong Ethos....

From the off field resigning of Cooky, to the stadium redevelopment, to the alleged resigning of Jimmeh to the new player's resigning and Bundy's comments about just being happy to be at Geelong....

Good things for Geelong's future...

Go Catters

Great news! Good on you Mitch!
Hope our Mitch Duncan can achieve what Tim Duncan had achieved.

Has he ever been coached by Ayres? The Bartel's , the Stevie J's , the Ling's...

Bring a good kid into a good environment , give them high quality attention and training , let them taste success of playing with a quality side nurtured from draftee's and they can see themselves being in that position in the future.

It seems go home factor is more of an issue if you are not really feeling integrated into the side , the club and the city.

Fantastic news. Love this kid, think he will become a seriously good player. Has class and hardness. My fave of the young'uns (although Bundy has been irrepressible of late, and Vardy is a sight to behold launching himself at the ball and Menzel just has that certain something around goal and and and....)!

Outstanding news by one of the smoothest movers I've seen on a field in a long time. Major asset to the club as a talent and a personality, and it's great that he's so committed to the whole idea of Geelong.

I was watching the players arrive before the game last week & do the rounds of the waiting fans - chatting, signing anything & everything, having their photos taken - and I asked a bloke nearby if this was common.

"Yeah mate", he replied, "this isn't just a footy club. It's a community."

Who wouldn't want to stay where they get paid good money to play the game they grew up loving to play, and all especially in that sort of an environment?

Would love to see Menzel, Duncan, and Bundy do well in the finals.

Have been looking at the other more favoured rising star nominations (Shu, Heppel) and I have been thinking they are better than our boys, how?

We got the cream of the crop of the young'ns. Except they are playing right next to Bartel, Johnson, Selwood etc and suffering from the comparison. ;)

I can't help thinking that they all have the attitude expressed by Bundy after not receiving the nomination a week earlier than he did:

"It's just an award. I get to play for Geelong!"

Denzel, Poodle, Strike & Doc (cos isn't an MD a qualified doctor?) all seem to have exactly the same mindset.

hahahaha...is there an a, b, c or d option here?

Doc (cos isn't an MD a qualified doctor?)

would have been good if he was timmmeeeee.
