i reckon he's a bit older than 17. pakistan do have a bit of history fudging peoples ages (shahid afridi too definately i reckon). i don't know why they'd bother?? once it's senior cricket no one gives a shit. in reality age records are basically the most pointless things going around.

There's a big focus on underage cricket there, in particular the U19 competition. Players' ages are sometimes fudged so blokes can play in those competitions.

He will be a gun. Can reverse it and bowls at high 140's, even nudging 150. With a maturing body as he gets older he'll get even faster. Should be a star. Pakistan have quite a few good youngsters coming through IIRC, they've been doing well in the underage world cups.

Looks really good, especialy for his age. I just hope he doesn't get any bad injuries because if he doesn't, he will dominate teams IMO.

How have you missed he is "17" the commentary box drops it every 15 minutes :p

Ugh. Let me spell it out for you Tarp.

What the commentators said was, that he made his U19's debut at the ripe age of 17, and at 19 made his way into the Pakistani Test Side, which is where he is now.

19 and playing Test Cricket is still a damn good achievement.

to be honest don't care about players celebrations after a wicket. unless it is directed at the batsman. i.e sending the batsman off

He's been blowing kisses like a 16yr old schoolgirl since his first ball on saturday, sometimes mimicking a kiss towards the batsman. Hopefully he grows out of that shit.

Maturity does come with age, how 'bout we cut him some slack considering his youthful age? ;)

He made the U19 side at 15. He is now 17.

If anything Aamer looks 15, he dosen't even look like he's capable of growing facial hair yet. Middle east dudes can grow mo's at a really young age.

Apart from generating incredible pace (how fast could Thommo bowl when he was 17?) you gotta be impressed how he worked over and worked out some of the premier batsmen in the world.

Oh and of course he has brought back the Lillee headband! He gets extra marks for that.

I think Warne said that he looks as good as you possibly can with a headband on. I would have to agree with him, it's great :D.

Hopefully he will turn out to be the next great quick for Pakistan. Hopefully he doesn't turn out to be a tool like Akhtar though.

That was Healy, but both agreed you can't actually look good in a headband, just look like less of a knob than someone else who wears one to.

Awesome talent. Doesn't matter what age he is really, if he stays fit and healthy then his age shouldn't come into question. He is a very confident bowler and has a very big future ahead of him.

Exactly my thoughts. If anything he's probably 12 :p

Frst thoughts on Boxing Day were, quick, and still quick at day's end - for someone so young, (17 or not, he is very young) that was a pretty good sign in itself. He turned out to still be quick on day two. He coul;d have had a wicket much earlier on the openeing day, and who knows what that would have done to the kid, and to the match.

The headband and the angle of the back looked very like Dennis Lillee.
In fact the whole run-up, apart from the fact he's left-armer, the final couple of strides, looks a lot like Lillee off the short run, although on TV the similarities aren't there, so perhaps it was an illusion caused by the headband.
Finished off with a smooth, uncomplicated, if a little raw, action. If he can get through without major injury, and Pakistani cricket perserveres with him, he could prove to be a handful for all batsman over the next 15 years.

but back on to the first thoughts of him

he is ryu

Does that mean Watson is Sagat?

I just hope he doesn't become another one of these young Pakistani or sub continental players who bursts onto the scene and then justs fades away for one reason or another.

Hopefully his head is screwed on right but only time will tell.
