Thought these guys were all quite even in terms of ability.

Who do you think is the better player out of the 3

Sewell's been incredible over the last year and a bit. Every year he's been improving his game. And the best part is he can perform two vital roles for us, with aplomb.

He can obviously shut down danger players. He can win the hard ball, dish it off cleanly and really stamp his authority on a match when he needs too. I love it how he can stand up in the absence of Hodge.

What a gun. And to think we almost traded him.

Sewell, Montagna then Lockyer.

Lockyer might be the only Pies players who's actually over-rated on these boards.

Sewell easily. he has gone to another level.
His clearance work today - when the game needed to be won - was awesome.
The man only knows one gear - he works his ass off all game - but he has added real class in 2008.

You see this is why I overlook your bitterness because in the end your knowledge of the game is up there with anyone on here.

Let it out Z, we're no longer pretenders. This team has heart and Sewell is a monster. No one can tackle him and all his possesions are hard contested possesions whilst running at an efficiency of 85%+

People can laugh all they like but he will physically demolish the Geelong so called superstar midfield.

Shit a compliment for a hawks player from the zebra Nice one. I also vote sewell.

Most underrated player in the comp at the moment. How he didn't get a nod for the big v is beyond me.

He is like Roughead, Birchall and Lewis.

The competition cannot digest so many animals at once, but slowly over time the young stars in our team will get recognition.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here.

Hawthorn samshed Port in the clearnces, but while port have offensive qualities in there (how much of a gun is S. Burgoyne), they are extremely loose.

You are not going to get that against a fired up Geelong. They are far more accountable. Campbell played his best game ever in the ruck and gave guys like Sewell and Lewis plenty of ball to run onto going forward into space - hat space will not be there vs Geelong.

What today exposed is what many of us have been saying - and that is as a group your defence is average. Your midfield is making them look good at the moment. If you beat Hawthorn out of the centre you can score quickly. In saying that, your midfield has been awesome this year and Sewell taking another step has played a huge part in that.

Against a midfield comprising Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Selwood, Kelly and Enright? I don't think even Buddy can save you.
But it will help immensely if Ottens is still out.

I would tag Sewell with Ling - even when Hodge is back.

Agree on all fronts but if they leave Hodge free he will run riot. I would understand if you don't rate Hodge like me because he always seems to struggle against North (Rawlings ???) but believe me he can destroy a team.

Your point about Campbell is the one that will be all the difference if we face Geelong in the big thing. Long way to go (and one week at a time and all that) but if we get there, Campbell will have to go on the jungle juice that morning, because he will almost become our most important player, behind Buddy and Sewell of course.

As for our defence it is so unfairly criticised IMO. I'm not saying it has the names of Geelong but it runs Zebra, and hard, so we zone off our men much more than anyone else in the competition (even Geelong). Yes the result of this means teams can score against us quickly, but you know my deep lust for Clarko and I can guarantee you the damage the other way far outways that. Do realise that our run from defence is one of our main strengths (behind an eerily tough midfield) so the guys down there cop it at times when in fact they are doing there job by not manning up.

I believe we can beat Geelong because our forwards are too good and our midfield will crush them. Don't believe all the Ablett and Bartel hype. They will be limping off or ducking for cover when the heat is on.

But there is a massive, MASSIVE IF...

Campbell must be on fire...

Big if I know.

Sewell kicked two goals directly from a centre square bounce on the weekend, if judd did that there'd be an entire board about it on BF.
