This from the Herald-Sun:

Geelong forward Cameron Mooney kicked two goals but but could be in trouble for a head-slamming tackle on Sydney's Lewis Roberts-Thomson.

Thoughts. responses?

There was nothing in it at all. LRT's head hit the ground, but apart from that the tackle was legit. In fact, it was a very good tackle and something his teammate Kelly would be proud of. He is fine.

Thats the media getting carried away with the flavour of the month........

I think the Herald Sun were maybe a bit sick of writing about how good the Cats were again so looked for something that might draw attention for being a bit controversial.

Absolutely nothing there.

The tackle was fair, one motion and the ball only came out as LRT hit the ground, absolutely 100% different to milburns.

Yeah, no way. Standard heavy tackle with the ball and LRT landed on his side first

Problem with Milburn's was it was a late sling of the player and he deserved a suspension for that. Mooney's was nothing like that

Would not be surprised if the MRP decided to cite him anyway.

ha ha ha npthing at all in it that is about 100 times less than what dasher did and he only got 1 week so moons should get some weeks crdit if they put him to the tribrunal!!!:D:D

You must understand that the HUN have a team of writers that get paid to write about footy, if Mooney farted too loudly near an umpires mic then there would've been an articale about that too. The channel 10 commentators said there was nothing in it and for them to say that then you know there was definetely nthng in it.

Yet another 'journalist' trying to create controversy with blatant untruths.

'Head slamming' my arse.

There was absolutely nothing in it. It was initiated within the field of play and it was not unduly rough.

But no doubt as we speak it is being labelled as "a vicious spear tackle."

I Dislike the HUN as much as the next bloke but to be fair whilst the HUN printed the article it was not written by their writers. It was an AAP (Australian Associated Press) article.

The only way he can get done is if tools like Sheahan write about it like Milburn's. LRT had the ball when tackled, kept possession of it when he hit the ground. IMO if it wasn't due to being out of bounds, probably would've been pinged.

Nothing in it, if he gets done our game is absolute crap.

Spot on. Shoulder slam maybe, but not a head slam.

Thought it looked bad when I first saw it, but watching the replay, it was just a perfect tackle. Had one arm pinned, and took him to the ground as they are probably instructed to.

Shouldn't even be cited, but who knows with the MRP?

The Cats have spent 8-9 years trying to get bigger and stronger like the Lions were. Now we are everytime we tackle someone they say we are unfair ...LRT had the ball there was no whistle therefore he was takled. Well done channel 7 for blowing up a ridiculas situation. Good tackle Moons!

Identical to the one on Harvey in the same round as Dasher's. That one went through to the keeper so he has nothing to worry about.

Harvey had disposed the ball,LRT hadn't and still had it under his arm when he kissed the turf.

Harvey disposed of the ball mid tackle. Either way the player had the ball when they were being slung. Milburn's was more of two actions.

The head hitting the turf is irrelevant, its whether mooney himself contacts the player's head. This was the basis of the of the Milburn defence. So ignoring the head, was the tackle late, illegal or unneccessarily rough? No on all of them - he won't get cited.
