What is the Multicultural Round all about?

Does it showcase AFL as a pathway for all cultures to integrate into "Australian" society? Or is integration a racist concept?

Is it an example of the AFL's political correctness gone mad - will the prayer rooms be able to cope with the influx?

Or is it an excuse for some Australia Post advertising and to justify a job for the CEO's little brother, Ali "Angry" Fahour?

Because the AFL feels the need to make every round special so as to give themselves something to market the game around and be all encompassing.

As long as football is the centrepiece I don't really care for the rest.

Yawn. Every day is White Men's Day. The only people who don't think so are white men.

It's well worth stopping from time to time to specially recognise the contribution made by minorities (and groups who are large in number but don't get the recognition or reward they should). If you're in the dominant group you can't understand what it means to have someone like you given credit and highlighted as a positive force and someone whose example you can follow.

Just makes me think the AFL is backward and advertising separatist idealogy and racism.

There's an entire industry out there devoted to keeping alive this crap...for their own benefit. This part of the world has progressed despite many drawing a living from it trying to exaggerate the issue.

Dealt with fairly successfully, rules are in place, only occasional issues these days...however still flogged to death by those drawing a salary from it or having a vested interest keeping it an issue.

Sick of hearing about it...risking a community backlash flogging an issue that SHOULD now have less resources devoted to it. Just like saving the whales when they're already saved...u can always get funding for it and never a shortage of soapbox hero's trying to tell you its a fight just starting out.

Time to petition for a multiheight round where dwarves arnt discriminated against in our game.

I guess it's just to celebrate the way people from a diverse range of cultures have contributed to our game. Seems a weird thing to have a whinge about to be honest.

Because by creating a round 'highlighting' the issue, it actually makes the AFL look racist. It simply now looks contrived and lame.

This should not be a round nor an issue..

However as highlighted previously, people actually have jobs where they dredge up this same predictable shit year after year.

Do you grizzle at the rounds dedicated to women in footy and heritage and Anzac day and indigenous players...? It's just another round celebrating something good about the game - its all-inclusiveness. You don't find it in rugby union, and its just par for the course in soccer. If you have a look at the top 50 squad the AFL just posted, you'll see that the final team will be pretty awesome...and if you consider that several of them will come from decades that were still officially White Australia, you can see it reflects the history of our country...our game has come a loooong way since Sid Jackson as an aboriginal and any number of young migrants saw their talents selectively recognised while still copping the s h i t that came with day to day life - even at the clubs they starred for...

And anything that celebrates the roots that eventually gave us Vin Catoggio's afro on a VFL playing field has got to be worth raising a beer for...
