Mike Sheenan seems to think the Richmond trio are better players. I think it proves once and for all that he's clearly lost his mind and gone prematurely senile.

Delideo can run faster over 100m and is taller. That's about all he has over Murphy who's a class above and has the ability to actually influence games.

Pettifier is a soft front runner who's the most hated player on Richmonds list. Kade Simpson is a classy young winger with speed and a great kick.

Lance Whitnall was Carltons Best and Fairest last year and should've been All Australian. He's had a rough start to the year but form is temporary, class is permanent and he proved on the weekend that he's not far away from his best. Jay Schultz is a key position player that's done exactly squat all so far in his career.

Which group would you rather take?

Mike Sheahan is a ********, ignore his "comparison"

He actually thinks HOULIHAN the girl is better than Chris Newman - the courageous inspirational leader and next captain of the RFC.

Newman is the most underrated player going around in a while, PLUS he's coming back off a broken leg and getting around 24 possies!

Sheahan knows nothing :thumbsd:

About the trio of players, it's hard to argue Whitnall has been better than Schulz this year, Jay has kicked 7 goals and has stepped up kicking goals in the last quarters when the scores are level and the pressure is on. Deledio has been better than Murphy who has started a little slower than Lids. Pettifer kicked 4 goals in round 1 then injured his knee in the 2nd game, went off the ground, and has played with the injury last week.

But I wouldn't listen to Sheahan anyway.

Just wondering how we are comparing Simpson to Pettifer. Lets look at them both for a minute...

Simpson - hard working midfielder, gut runner, good skills, courageous

Pettifer - goal sneak, can take a good mark, isnt courageous, lazy, underperforming number 8 pick. stillbaffled how we are comparing them.

Apart from that one is a forward the other is a mid...Sheehan is a goose

richmond because whitnalls on carltons list, anyone else and i would of picked carlton

Deledio >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Murphy
Petiffer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Simpson
Schulz >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Whitnall

It was about the only thing in the article that Sheehan got right.:thumbsu:

Carlton by a clear margin.

Simpson is one of my favourite non Bomber players. Looked good last year in Ireland. Fast, skillful. So much better than Petiffer it is silly.

Lids is a gun. Has the size and speed to be an absolute gun. Wish he was played 120 minutes in the guts. No point hiding him like Hawks do Hodge.
Murphy is amazing for a 15 game player. His skills are amazing.

Schulz vs Whitnall would have been laughable 12 months ago. I have more chance of being AA than Schulz. BUT....Lance has been terrible in 07. But 2.5 bad games (played well against us in second half) does not make him worse than Schulz!

Simpson>>>>Petiffer
Murphy>>Deledio
Whitnall>>>>>>Schulz

Really a pretty one sided poll.

Murphy a class above Lids although i do rate Lids among the best. Pettifer and Simmo are different players... A Wingman V A HFF, I'd take either as there both skillful and solid players although neither will win you a game. Shulz is a promising player and all but Whitnal has proven himself time again and is gradually getting over this slump. Sheehan is just egging him on:)

That performance was close to his best? I was under the impression that after his par-for-2007 woeful 1st half, he was just slightly less crap in the 2nd half?

Did you watch the game moron??

Yes...everyone knows Pagan threw Lance into the ruck for some cheap touches, my point is that you'd hope "close to his best" would be alot better than 10 touches 4 marks 6 hitouts...oh wait, some of his touches were "really important" weren't they

How can you possibly think Deledio will be nearly as good as Murphy. We are seeing a kid who beside Nick Stevens who i the last few weeks has shown ELITE form is a teams best midfielder. Who is 19 and has played 15 games. Marc Murphy is a very strong bet to win a brownlow in his career.
I would take Murphy over Deledio easily and im close to thinking he has better and has more potential then all of them put together.

Yeah, given that he got the majority of them were in the 3rd quarter when we made our comeback, yes the were important. You probably missed them, weren't on the phone with Kerry were you?

Murph just continues to take his game to a higher level each week. An unbelievable footballer. Some of his delivery to Fev and center clearances last Saturday were of extreme quality. He made the best Essendon "midfielders" look plain ordinary. He is an intense individual, with a lot of focus and footy smarts. Players like Murph and Gibbs are just natural footballers, and need little instruction even at this early stage. They have the basic skills mastered, and work on more advanced skills. Deledio is a great athlete, and is hard to run down when he gets some speed up, but most of the footy subtleties don't come as naturally to him. That doesn't mean Deledio won't be a star, it just means that he'll develop a bit differently. Andrew Walker is an example. Denis was criticized, for forcing Walker into defensive roles for much of the past 1-2 years. But without doubt that has helped his development. Walker has taken his game to a new level this year, and is playing more in the forward line and middle. Not only is he now a brilliant attacking footballer, but he has developed some fantastic defensive skills and other subtlies that he learn playing on the best. Jordon Russell is following a similar development path. Gibbs is bit a unusual in that he knows how to play in the forward line, middle or defence from day 1. :)
