I buried the lede in another thread on the main Port board so I thought that I should put it in its proper place.

In the interests of this newish phenomenon of sharing one's every action on the interweb, I thought that some of you might like to know that I am getting married next weekend (unfortunately the same night as Port play North at the Dome*).

It's going to be a small ceremony but all those important to the Meaners will be there.

* The timing was unintentional. We thought of it more than twelve months ago. I have made MrsMeaner-to-be into a Port supporter but I think that it might have been asking a bit much to have her move the wedding for a silly little football game.

Remember to live the Creed and don't stop till all human endeavour on the playing field is completely exhausted.

:thumbsu::thumbsu:Congratulations to you both and may you live long and happily together. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Congratulations MM. I'm sure you will have a big day.

But I would have thought any date outside the second week of October to the 3rd week of March was asking for trouble.

Are you going to have a small radio in the inside breast pocket of your jacket or maybe a mobile phone that picks up Fox Sports?;)

Congrats MM.

A mate of mine got married eons ago during a Port v Peckers match at Alberton when we were 7 or 8 down at half time and got up to win - how did we know? - the score was mentioned during the service!!!

Thanks everyone for your wishes.

MissMeaner and I are extremely excited to be taking this next step in our lives together.

As for the game, I think that if my Dad has his way, he will have his radio there. I'm sure that the only way that we will find out if he does is if he suddenly yells at inappropriate moments.

Congrats Mr. M!

The good old sms updates at the wedding while be in full swing - unless someone brings a radio or there's a tv at the function centre. One wedding i was at years ago had a small tele behind the bar, that was a great night. :)

Congrats! And good to hear you've converted the soon to be MrsMeaner. Things go smoother if one party converts to the others religion :D

At least you are sensible and haven't scheduled it during September. When my then to be wife and I were deciding a date I told her not then (though that was 2003 so I would just have been spared another finals capitulation). I'd say for any footy fan if your spouse to be demands a September wedding they aren't wife/husband material for anyone as fanatic as the BF footy fan :p

Thin end of the wedge MM, missing a game in your adopted Melbourne just for a wedding. Couldn't you have asked for a stay of proceedings?
Now there is precedent, you may be asked to miss games to be at the birth of your children.
