well I think Grant Thomas' stock is rising this year given the season they're having under Ross Lyon. I guess that's another of your quality insights. :D

Way to lose all credibility, Cro-mo. GT's stocks rising.....hmmm so I guess you agreed with his completely unfounded view of Pavlich's attitude to "team" the other day.

you know what, I really admire the advanced thinking and conceptual analysis of someone who comes in with an underdeveloped argument and an overdeveloped emotional side, but is never too cool to use terms like FOS - is that because of your limited vocabulary and plodding intellect? full of shit presumably? wow. so very clever as well, the way you choose to leave it out there unexplained, no doubt giggling like a school girl to yourself.

that sort of thing used to get a real laugh in the back of the classroom in high school didn't it? no one thought you were a discredited shambles when you couldn't back up yourself up then. ah those were they days, eh?

erm I would think most people here know what FOS means - perhaps if you dont know what something means you should be humble enough to ask?

and as for underdeveloped comment - I havent seen any development in your contribution to the subject of this thread

oooh you used mockery in a sentence. 10 points! do I have to sign something for your scout master? well done you :thumbsu:

in the words of our esteemed scribe....boring :D

If your majory worry is our aging midfield stocks, why would you rather trade a young midfielder who is doing well, than a Ruckman, given we have fairly good ruck stocks as well.

True, and with Meesen seemingly making a late charge, you have a point. However, I think Biggles is just about gone, Huddo has lost a bit of zip since his op (although none of his passion), which leaves us with Maric (promising), Griffen, Meesen(maybe wants to go home), maybe Tippett. A bit light on IMO.

Also, it seems an accepted fact that promising talls are a lot harder to come by than mids.

Given the amount of effort we have put into Griffen, I'd be surprised if we put him up for trade, particularly after hispromising debut this season.

By the way - re "FOS"...

One was directed at someone calling John Casey an ex AFL footballer
The other directed at a guy who has spent at least 10 posts attacking me without adding to the topic of the thread.

Both warranted I would say :)

In terms of which of VB or Griffo should be traded to Freo for Pavlich, the answer is both. VB, Griffo and a first round draft pick. And Freo would still tell us to jam it.

We have plenty of average to good midfielders. VB will never be a super star. He is a hard worker, who will always put in a serviceable performance. Will opposition sides ever bother tagging him. I wouldnt think so. He is in our best 22, but he wont be a Macca or Goody.

Knights is proving to be much better at this stage.

Id count Tippett as a ruck prospect, and even possibly Sellar. I think our tall man stocks are pretty good. I think we can afford to lose one of our promising ruckmen, and realistically, we're gonna have trouble keeping all three of Griff, Maric and Meesen, because theres only so many opportunities in a team for rucks.

True, although I do salivate at Grif playing a role up forward, particularly if Trent doesnt come up. And Maric looks like a handy pinch hitting type up forward too - good for creating mismatches.

Look at this scenario - Meesen wants to be traded home, Trent doesnt come up, Sellar doesnt take the next step. All of a sudden we aren't as wealthy in the talls department.

To be fair, i think the last is the most important there. Alot of our future is staked upon young Jimmy Sellar. I wouldnt trade Griff if meese leaves, but if he doesnt, then maybe.

Agree - I think we've staked the farm on Sellar. Fingers crossed he makes it and young Trent recovers fully, then we're talking forward line :)

yawn.....getting boring.....how about being constructive?

that's twice you've borrowed my line, derivative dahling ;)

you seem to think this is a valid thread!! why?

it became a joke when you started ignoring all the things you couldn't answer, and hoping it would go unnoticed. not just when you based it on dubious logic, and poor observations, but when you started pretending the things you couldn't answer weren't there.

you turned it into a laugh fest, climaxing at the pathetic suggestion you were a big tough bloke (presumably to counteract the hissy fits thrown earlier), now live with it. :)

thats funny - "Last comic Standing" is on the TV at the moment but they dont hold a candle to you. Speaking of ignoring things, do you think you might post something relevant to the thread, or are you intent on hijacking it?

constructive would be going back to the toolshed and building a birdhouse or something feenix, what you've tried to say about VB is ridiculous.
You've just said previously you want reilly being a player who gets the handpass and delivers, now van berlo is good in and under his hands are lightning fast and accurate which atm others are failing in.
Try last few games and you might have something, hes not played well the last 3 games prior to that he'd of had pretty much a BOG a runner up and top five from the 3 games before that.
prior to that he was performing rather well.
you can look at whatever stats you like there are quality performances he has output this season and he has also been shuffled around and rotated a lot.
Anyway moving away from that.
If you want to base anything around statistics and talk about this season.
Now you tell me who actually isn't performing and isn't tagging based on the chart here http://www.finalsiren.com/Fixture.asp?SeasonID=2007&TeamID=1 and how many possessions the opposition's danger players have all been getting this season.
What exactly they are giving the team is unknown, you might be looking at VB because these players are even more invisible then he is.
Shirley now week in week out offers nothing offensively and his opponent runs rampant as with Doughty who is more useless hand ball mad then ever before and these guys have been around longer then 3 seasons and VB is very much more use then these players have been.
I would like to see all these guys shepherding for each other it just isn't happening, flat footed hand balling and up and under kicks from breakaways seem all the rage, trouble is a few of our tougher runners/run-with support guys may tear up at the sight of them actually returning the favour it can't be that they are too slow to support surely...
