Draftexpress has measurements for everyone post 2002 or so.

Measured in at 6"9 without shoes, so about 6"10.5 with shoes.

And I know Bynum's not making me look good today, but give him some time, he hasn't played since early last year.

Mate he was 17 at draft camp.

HES GROWN

Watch tape now, even the adidas commercial, look at him next to timmy whos 7 foot.

Draftexpress? Would that not be draft year measurements? And just quietly he's named as 6'10" on there. Also they have Dwight's weight as 240lbs when last I heard he was above 260lbs.

Yeah, draft year measurements.

(not sure if that link will work, if not just use this and go to 2004)

In any case, there's an obvious discrepancy in height between Dwight and monster C's like Shaq/Bynum etc...

Fwiw, I was a massive Zo fan back in the day - and he was a great player. But there's a reason he won't be remembered alongside the great Centres...his height never allowed him to just dominate the game the way Shaq or Hakeem did, or even Ewing. He was a PF playing C, as is Howard.

Bynum has a chance to be a true 7"0+ dominant C - thus my man-crush.

So why are we using draft day measurements from years ago to compare their size now? Dwight kept growing and because of that I don't think there is that much difference between their heights. If we got them back to back there would be under an inch in it I'd say. I know an inch can be the difference but with Dwight athleticism I don't think it hinders him to be maybe an inch shorter than the 7" mark and therefore be unable to compete and be a dominant C. I think with Bynum being 2 years(?) younger than Howard he'll be a player to about the same level as Howard, but he needs to do more to be a superstar.
The thing I worry about most is Bynum's range. If he's not within near reach of the hoop I dont think he has the moves to get round and score so well. Dwight hasnt got that in his game yet either but I've seen improvement from Dwight in that area. All I've seen Bynum's improvement come from is that his new found strength allows him to get into better positions close to the hoop. Maybe being so big when he grows up it wont matter he cant do much outside the paint on the offensive end but it also means he wont be complete.
I also wonder how well Bynum would have gone at a lesser club that doesnt have the expectations and the work-ethic that the Lakers do. Doesnt strike a me a particularly motivated worker (but I guess TD doesnt either so much) but I think being at LA and having hard expectations put on him by Kobe's words about him, and able to have Kareem as a mentor keep the drive up to improve. I dont know who he would have gone with his progression to this stage at an Atlanta, Minnesota, Oklahoma City etc where their development may not be as well funded and relentless in exposure but we'll never know I guess.

Shaq was a height and strength above what Bynum and Howard will be. And I'd even say Hakeem was too. Absolute monsters. Anyway the evolution of both will be great to watch, and I think this post has gone on far too long so I'll just end with I think there is no doubt we both agree they will be key players, we just dont quite agree on the extent their future will carry them. ;)

Height's overrated, Charles Barkleys bum theory is the go, but anyway

Referring to the below wedding photo

Anthony 6'8"
Boozer 6'9"
Bosh 6'10"

That would make Howard 6'9.5" ish

But Prince is listed at 6'9" and Le Bron 6'8" making Howard 6'11"

Melo doesn't look to happy there :p. He is also listed as 6'8"
Kobe is listed as 6'6".

So according to that..either Bosh and Howard are pushing 6'11"+, or everyone else is listed as bigger than what they are

Finally I dont have too pretend that the first quarter of the season doesn't exist. Only got too see highlights though. Great start for Rose. Suprised to see both Gordon and Hinrich come off the bench though. Hinrich looks like it has worked for him, good boy. Spewing I didn't get too see the full game.

Don't be hatin on Drew, his 6 offensive rebounds today were a big help for my fantasy team!

You beat Milwaukee.

I wouldn't break out the party poppers just yet.

Getting smashed on the boards. But I think you'll come back and take the W.

Shard needs to get involved!

Raps up by 4, nearly the end of the third. Good start, both teams shooting pretty poorly though. BON has a combined 32 and 17 so far for the game. :thumbsu:
