I don't know what to make of what Rendell says. He got the ass in April and has spent the last 12 months taking pot shots at all side of the club. But has given glowing reports on the clubs recruitment.

That's actually not what he said and it's a shame people think of it that way.

He said that unless the AFL put resources into increasing the retension rate of aboriginal players, they may end up in a situation where they struggle to get drafted if they dont have a white parent.

The media spun that into some Matt Rendell racism outrage when he was literally trying to get more resources into developing aboriginal players...

Not exactly. He had a comment along those lines that was in response to some deeper issues that AFL clubs have with managing and accepting the lifestyles/traditions/culture of Indigenous players, but it wasn't actually what he did in his time as a recruiter. An idiot and not a smart comment, but not in line with his drafting history.

He definitely has an axe to grind with Collingwood though.

Seems his comments were in connection to Adelaides drafting strategy at the time, of which he had control of.

Well… not really. Pick 2 would have been swallowed by Daicos presuming North bid on him and they will. If Collingwood had been patient and played their cards better, they could have gotten better value for their pick when trading it

I could have been live trades or traded for future picks .... something better than 24 and 30

Surely that could have been addressed this year...plus then you have the option of trading up to 1 getting Horne and still getting Daicos with a deficit.

Yes that's true but there's no scenario that Collingwood get to select Daicos and then use pick 2. 2 would have been traded at some stage; the club just should have gotten better value than they did.

Keep the pick then trade up with North to get pick 1, maybe with a second or something next season.
