3 questions Ross, Whats "feature lock" (sorry if its a dumb question) is that like you have finished the lighting and that.
thanks guys! Do you reckon the game will have a similar NBA Today feature (from NBA 2K11) Team Line-ups are the same as the thursday night squads for the current round.

Not a chance I'd have thought.
I suspect it will just be like quick match, season, multiplayer, and maybe training. With create a team/player and Edit modes or somesuch. No career/my player/minigames.
It definitely won't be feature heavy. Think back to the first FIFA games, or any other sport games in their early cycles. Its going to be much closer to them than the current versions. (In terms of features, not in terms of graphics/gameplay)
Of course I can't be at all sure about features, but I suspect this is likely the case, maybe someone else knows more.
Any thoughts on how the PS3 security hacks will effect the online experience Ross?
In a way I guess it's an advantage for Big Ant to be starting up the AFL franchise now that sport games' features have been tried & tested throughout different genres. They've got a fresh view of what works and what doesn't.
I don't think it's going to be too much of a problem, in any case it's not going to be any more of a problem than it is on the Xbox which already has vast piracy here in Oz (Our previous games are selling 2-1 on PS3).
Personally I know people are using two boxes, one for online, one for offline. My understanding is that Sony do know who is online with the "patch" (as do MS) and it will be at their time and choosing as to what to do with machines that are tampered with. Sony have also let us know that a firmware upgrade is coming that will "rectify" the problem.
As far as mods to code, etc... pretty hard to stop but we will try and limit the obvious.
How did you have a 1 day red card? Haha and already have a yellow?Just wondering about RLL, did it sell enough copies to warrant another game? Or did it sell poorly that you are kind of praying that the AFL game makes up for the low sales?

I got banned twice within a minute and I also had a yellow on top of thatHow did you have a 1 day red card? Haha and already have a yellow?
Ross, in what I assume is the short history of Big Ant Studios, has the AFL game been the longest in terms of time making it? Compared to your other games obviously.
Not sure MS has a clue about piracy so long as it's done 100% correctly. A friend of mine has been pirating tons of games (and I mean tons!) for online use with his 360 for the past 2 and a half years or so, and he hasn't been banned once.
So long as the copied games have been 'stealthed', it basically means they are a 1:1 copy of the retail disc. Thing is, I reckon 98% of 360 pirates don't do it correctly (play games before release, don't 'stealth' properly), hence the large number of bans over the years.
He uses ABGX360 and get's his firmware updated every 12 months or so and hasn't had a problem. Even this new AP2.5 (Anti-Piracy 2.5) that MS is using for some newer games now has already been figured out with the new LT+ firmware.
Of course, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong with any of this, however I fear I'm not.
Unfortunately BAS....Hackers >>> MS and Sony. Always a step ahead.
Good to hear, the question was more around mods to the code ruining the online experience opposed to outright piracy.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, or mod it so you kick a goal from anywhere on the field etc.
Jesus, you must be 100 million years oldBig Ant Studios is in it's tenth year however I've been making games since 1979... yes I am that old
AFL is by far the biggest project I have undertaken. Some three years in the making by the time it hits the shelves and we will make a loss on it because we have invested for the series, not a one-off game.

Wouldn't mind the answer to this too TBH, despite it being off topic (but seriously, how much more on topic stuff is left to talk about?!).Good stuff BAS.
Again, thanks for continuing to take the time to reply and answer questions for everyone here.
'79 hey? You must have quite an extensive list of games you've worked on over the years. A little off topic again (though what hasn't been over the past 3 threads?), but would you care to share a few of your favourites, particularly from your early work days?
