I think the message was just starting to get through to Medders that he needed to lift his work rate when he was traded. With the addition of Tarrant and Solomon it would have been hard for him to get a game, but I expect a big year from Paul. Wouldn't be surprised if he kicks 40+ goals and finshes top 10 B&F.

Oh get a room you two!!:D
Better make it a threesome.

Losing GHD was not an option that I was happy with.

Seeing him playing in black and white hurts. Knowing his coach hasnt got a State team to pick from tells me he wont be getting a medallion in the near future.

Is this right that most freo fans are sad to see medders go yet maggies fans are glad to see tazz go.tarrant did pretty good playing with a injury and two defenders on him and medders couldn't get a game:confused:

I am fine to see him go. Most of the comments re Medhurst and being sad to see him go read more like sentimental value, rather than that we are going to suffer on the field. If he does well somewhere else, then good luck to him. For me that would mean that he has managed to re-invent his game, which is what he was asked to do here, but never managed to achieve. Neither he or Polak took their opportunity to become better team players, and instead of busting their guts when dropped, they seemed to crack the sulks. Part of Medhurst's problem was that his natural game works well at WAFL level, but he needs to play quite differently in the AFL.

If he was still on our list this year, then I can't see how I would fit him into a best 22. And if Farmer was our for some reason, then that would be his only chance of a berth, and I would be just as happy looking at some alternative such as a) Collard (yes, agree that he should not play until next year, but if needed then throw him into a forward pocket) b) Bell/Hasleby having a stint up there c) Borwne.

Don't care what Magpie fans think about Tarrant, although I am sure they were frustrated with him. He "failed" to be the consistant and reliable forward that they needed, especially his kicking for goal. And his body language was often very ordinary. For us his role will be different, and while there may be big expectations for him, he is not the pin up boy for us that he was at the Magpies. I don't expect him to having as many shots for goal for us as he did for them, and when we have marksmen like Pavlich and Murphy alongside him, that is a very good thing. If he can mark the ball and get it to them, it will be a pleasnat drive home from Subi.

Yeah injured..please he has been injured for 8 years according to Tarrant. Well having sore shins & partying til 6am every second saturday is not really professional. I worked at a popular melb night spot & Tarrant was an absolute disgrace the way he was. Wonder if WADA has been knocking on his door yet???hmmmm food for thought

You can have Tarrant's 1.4 a game & bad attitude..

And yet, you rate Tarrant, hoping that Chris Bryan could be "half as good";

If he turns out to be half as good as Tarrant, Johnson, Didak & Holland, then I would be over the moon.

So what would that mean? .7 a game?

Just checked and from the footywire player comparisons, Chris Bryan is just about exactly half as good as Tarrant. You must be a happy boy Boundforglory.

Hey Fremantle Fans, just to let you know that Bryan was out last player picked in the pre season draft & we gave up nothing for him.

You have given up Pick 8 & a senior player, for a guy who is so overated its not funny!

Hey, I don't have an opinion about Bryan. It was you wanting him to be half as good as Tarrant. Hypocrisy always comes back to bight, and you have a nasty gash on your credibility, and it's bleeding profusely. Go troll somewhere else.

Stop embarrassing yourself and the rest of the Collingwood supporters out their please BoundforGlory.
Honestly. Your the kind of person that tarnishes the reputation of us Collingwood supporters as a whole. Stop being so pig headed and one eyed, you instantly lose all credibility in the arguement your trying to make when your so closed minded.

'Tarrant is a good player best, but he cant Kick, No heart & chokes in big games.. Very overrated player!!! '

Tarrant is an AA quality player, who at his best is one of the most talented footballers going around. Your simply to dimwitted and biased to admitt to anything like that, and instead resort to trolling and unsupportable statements. Tarrants a superb player, and providing you guys knock him into line, I can see him being half the reason Freo makes the full step this year.
Great to hear Rocca say yesterday he also has natural leadership skills and had the potential to be a pies Captain, if he didn't enjoy himself so much :P But its a good show of support, and I think its spot on.

No-one else worked harder on the track or on the ground at Collingwood then this kid, and he will get his just rewards at Freo IMO and stick it up all the doubters out there.

Didn't want to see him go, was personally shattered.

BFG your an idiot to think we've stuffed Freo over here. Medhurst doesnt mean much to me, hasn't proven anything and isn't bound to be anythign exceptional or have any big difference at the pies. So great, we got a half ass player who couldnt get a game this year?
And a draft pick, which although to your untrained mind, means f all at the moment. Potential is all... There is nothing saying Top 10 picks are going to be superstars, so don't act like we've completely killed Freo in this deal.
And this will be interesting '(JUst watch BEN REID GO, THAT KID CAN PLAY).'

Please enlighten me, how many times have you actually seen him play idiot. Or are you, no doubt, just going off the hype? You have no idea he can play, admitt it. Because you've never seen him play.... Me on the other hand, can say and actually mean... But so what, against others kids.
Means f all, and until he proves something, we haven't won sh*t outta this deal.

Only reality check going to happen this year will be the thumping we are highly likely to cope from an outfit ready to make their claim at the cup. Something we cant say with much confidence

Now stop making us look bad, schools back, go do some homework.. Idiot

Whoa! BFG just got a severe spanking.

Invigoration, would be interested to hear your views on whether Tarrant will be better played up the gound (which is where most of us here are expecting him to play) using his mobility and stamina, or out of the goal square (as I think he was mostly used for Collingwood???).

Definately up the ground. And this simple move, will be what saves him. Malthouse is dull and one dimensional, never used Tarrant for what he really could be.

If you could leave the 50 open and full of space, Tarrant would dominate out of the square on the lead. He doesnt get beaten on the lead, has amazing hands and knows where to lead. Malthouse never gave him this right... He seemed to prefer having the ball pumped long to Rocca, where a contest was made... Took away all of Tazzas prime attributes. Clogged him for space, takes away his pace and makes things really hard.

The other thing is his partly dodgey kicking at goal... Which I don't necessarily always agree with. When his good, and confident, he will slot it from anywhere. When his down, it goes the other way.... But one thing that never changes, is his point to point kicking. He wont missing a target, i assure you. So playing him up the ground, HFF who pushes up, or on a wing is perfect for him. Let him roam, and trust me he will, he works harder then anyone else on the ground and will present time and time again. I think his a good link up man off the HFF. Running outta the backline his a perfect leading target sprinting towards a defender... Similar to what Reiwoldt does. And then once he does have the ball, his a precision kicker, great for forwards.

I personally would have loved to see him play across the HBF at some period in his time at the Pies. Not as a permenant move, but it would definately be interesting. His not overly accountable, but would definately suit a Luke Hodge kinda role IMO. His quick, mobile/agile, booming kick running off the ball line, and his kicking on the run/to a target is far better then at goal.. So why not? Makes sense, and could never hurt.

He'll be an asset, I have no doubt. If Collingwood was based in WA I think he would be still with us, Melbourne was never good for him... But I deserves your faith, and I am almost positive you guys wont be let down. His an easy target to criticise, but you just need to track him for one game, just watch him... And you will agree he always plays at 110%, works his ass off and simply doesnt get the just rewards he deserve. Freo will be his place, and 2007 will be his year.
I see no reason why he won't get back to AA form, and even if he doesnt, trust me his still in the top 5-10% of players.

This is simply my opinion, take from it what you want, but I've seen a lot of his games over his career and can say my opinion is far more educated then the idiots who simply turned on him because we needed a scape goat. Half the people wouldnt have even seen him play, its easy to just jump on a kid and kick him when he's already down. The only bloody thing he needed was a bit of support

And again, very good to see Rocca say his was captain material, its true to. He LOOKS like a leader, his presence and smarts.

I'd be interested in hearing anything about his training and all the rest guys. Best of luck for the year. :)

P.s. Freo's young kids and playing style made me wanna jump on the wagon while I had the chance, Taz simply confirms its meant to be :P My official 2nd team
haha. Just gotta get Modra outta retirement now! now that would be a killer forward line! :)

Finally a intelligent perspective, I am also interested in finding out how you think he will go with a stronger forward line around him? And "touch wood" a fit Pav next to him all year, something Rocca couldnt do.

Interested in your thoughts

Pavlich looked strong, as you would expect, in the intra-club. Plus there are plenty of other options up forward. tarrant in that mix is a dangerous cocktail that I am looking forward to. Some quick and accurate delivery is the spark needed to turn it into a Molitov Cocktail set to reek a bit of backline havoc for the opposition. KaaaaBOOOM!
