Doesn’t look like there’s a lot of space to build some large stands.

The Grandstand pictured only holds 1000 people.
A shame the government/s could not change funding once the Olympics was confirmed.
Would have been much cheaper to add another bigger stand while all big machinery in place
Much more expensive to do something at a later stage
Not sure how many spectators the the training and admin building will accommodate on the balconies
At least the project is taking shape. Just hope it comes in on time

That's looking stupendous.
Next aflw season will be my first as a member - will be nice being able to go to a ground on a train line!

Love that it's so close to the train station! Looking forward to celebratory trips home on the train with fellow Lion's supporters.

Top photo the land on the left side is that going to be part of the facilities?
If you mean on the opposite side of the creek, then no. I believe that are is earmarked for high density commercial & residential activity

BRIGHTON HOMES ARENA KICKING GOALS

Construction has entered an exciting phase on our Club’s new home at Springfield Central ahead of its opening later this season.

Building structures and roofing are complete on Brighton Homes Arena and preparations are being made for broadcast lighting of AFL Women’s night matches for the 2022/23 summer season.

The state-of-the-art Lions Elite Performance Centre is being painted ahead of the Club’s transition to Springfield, which will commence in August.

The indoor oval has been enclosed ahead of synthetic turf being laid in the coming month along with the installation of an iconic facade featuring our Lions Guernsey mark.

Sheeting and joinery are being finished in the café, bar, community amenities and grandstand, with construction tracking well on the Club’s new public-access gym and wellness centre.

The arena will open for VIP events from September prior to its public opening during the AFLW season.

“Construction progress for our new Elite Performance Centre is tracking well and we look forward to moving the Club’s AFLW and AFL training to Greater Springfield in Spring,” said Brisbane Lions CEO, Greg Swann.

“Our athletes will benefit considerably from cutting-edge training technology, rehabilitation facilities and unencumbered 24/7 access to indoor and outdoor ovals for skill development.”

“Ultimately, Brighton Homes Arena will allow us to add the football one-percenters that bring Premierships.”

“Our final challenge as a Club is a public campaign in coming months to fund all-new footy equipment and ensure our media studios are equipped to better relay our stories to Club supporters.”

The $80 million precinct includes a new community centre and function facilities and will employ over 200 full-time staff once open.

Just curious - how does a public access gym work alongside the need for our AFLW and AFL squads using the gym for training?
The reference to the employment of "over 200 full time staff" seems very bullish.
