Coming off a relativity easy run (including this week) we probably face our toughest tasks of the year. Without disrespecting Port Adelaide we should win quite easily (even if we only show for a half)

Then we travel to Etihad to play Carlton, which will be a tough game. We couldnt beat the bombers over there so who knows

We have the dreaded week off after that game though, so we can really go for it

We then play host to Geelong on friday night football. National stage, and it will be our biggest test at home this year. The cats are likely to still be undefeated

Then we travel on the road again to Etihad to play St Kilda, who i am predicting by this point will be back to playing some of the football they played last year. Will no doubt be a tough game

How many of these next 4 games can we realistically win.
Port Adelaide - should easily win
Carlton - Line ball, slightly in Carltons favour
Geelong - Wont win
St Kilda - Line ball, slightly in our favour

I think the two Etihad games are PIVOTAL. Will be the difference between being 3/4 of these games, and 1/4
I think we will win 2/4 (St Kilda being the second win)

We still need around 12 wins to make finals, so we need 5 wins from 11 games... with Carlton away, Geelong at home, StKilda away, Fremantle at home, Bulldogs away and Brisbane away.

The other 5 games are all winnable so if we manage to pick up any of the above "danger games" we might get into the top 6.

I've been thinking the exact same thing. The 4 after Port are huge in relation to our finals chances.

I personally think Carlton and St Kilda are our best chances. Freo will be looking at redemption in a big way and Geelong are just too strong at the moment.

If we come away with 1 of them i'll be happy, as the remaining ones after those are all winable.

Have to beat Port.

Beating Carlton in Melbourne will be the toughest and biggest ask, they're playing good football.

Geelong are another big ask, at home we're a tiny chance.

St Kilda, still a talented list would be really good to get this win.

The timing of our games has been awful really.

We played Essendon when they were on song and still playing above themselves.
Then we play Gold Coast once they have a bit of self belief and Ablett is in form
Then we play Collingwood who had 2 down weeks just previous to playing us.
Now we have to play St Kilda who are finally starting to hit their straps.

Can't do much about it.

WE can beat Geelong , surely they will be ripe for the picking at Home - Geelong cant be up all season and have won 4 games by under 4 points , if they had lost those they would sit with us on the ladder ;)

Win
Loss
Win
Win :footy:

But I could be WRONG

If i was going to tip I'd have us winning 1 (port).

Carlton - look the goods for a top 3 place this year will destroy are midfield. (pencil in a loss)

Geelong - Think we will step up for this one will be a great game especially at home. But Geelong will just be good enough I feel and win by around 12.

Saint's - Another big game however away will just have enough class. Saints by 20.

If we can sneak a win against Carlton it will be huge for are season.

Season Defining couple weeks coming up!

Port Adelaide - 60+ Win

Carlton - Probably lose by 4-5 goals

Geelong - They might start resting some players, sneaky chance to win!

St Kilda - 50/50

I seriously think we can trouble Geelong if we're up and about. Freo always get close to them or beat them when they come over here. They are the only top team we get to play at home this year so will be good to see how we go.

Carlton - Line ball, slightly in Carltons favour if we turn up play we can upset them ..
Geelong - Wont win coming off bye we may catch them napping but they are a very good team.
St Kilda - Line ball, slightly in our favour because they are playing so badly and won`t make the finals .

so I think maybe 2/3 wins which would be a good result for us..

Agreed, I don't think Geelong play Subi all that well. Remember that game last year, we were down in cellar and we gave them a right old scare for three quarters. They ended up just running over us, doing the job by 24 points or so...bring it on! :thumbsu: :D

Flying to Melbourne to watch the Saints game - so we better win that one! (Also will be there the game after - Dogs.)

Don't pencil in Geelong as a loss. They gotta lose sometime, why not after a 4 hour flight across the country and in a stadium full of angry fans? :)

I think we're a better chance to win the Geelong game then the carlton considering it's at home!
If we can win two you would have to be pretty pleased, if we win more think that shows were better than just a top 6 side.

I think the bye will become a positive for us for the following reasons:

-- It's played on a Friday so that's not that long a gap (13 days :o)
-- Geelong coming off a game to Essendon at Etihad which will be a fiery game due to the Thompson / Essendon / Geelong saga
-- Played at home - long trip from Geelong
-- Selwood may well miss if he gets suspended for 3 weeks (though probably not at all)
-- You will also find that the byes at the middle / end of the year will be more of a positive as it allows our players time to freshen up especially with the press being so demanding and players carrying niggles.

Anyway - suspect we will be very competitive, but that is looking a bit too far ahead. :thumbsu:

Combining these 2 things as well as the fact that they will have only a 6 day break, hopefully they will be a bit tired and sore while will be totally fresh after the bye.

I don't think we will win but if we r close at 3/4 time then we "should" run over the top of them.

I really rate our chances against Geelong even if it is after the bye. Geelong are going to lose sometime this year and having to play West Coast at SUBI in front of 40k screaming WCE supporters and our press, why can't we win this? This is a MUST win game, if we're going to be genuine finals contenders and then premiership contenders in years to come, we need to be winning every game we play at home. The last two times Geelong came here, we almost caused upsets.

St Kilda and Brisbane away from home is going to be a lot harder than Geelong at home. Carlton at Ethiad is the toughest game we've got for the rest of the season but we shouldn't be traveling to Melbourne under the impression that losing by 4-5 goals a positive result, I know the players and coaches are thinking this and we as supporters should also be thinking this.

Anyways back to Friday night vs Geelong, earlier this year the Dockers should have beaten them and as previously said, Geelong is not going to win every game and they won't keep sneaking home by less than a goal, they'll lose a close one eventually. I'm picking us to win this game.

We play Geelong after our bye.. no chance.

The Bye excuse is rubbish, it might have been an excuse in the first 6-7 weeks however at this stage of the season if anything it is a welcomed rest. We need the break, we've looked tiered in the last couple of weeks, the statistics of teams not winning after the bye is total rubbish and coincidental.

Geelong is a very winnable game. Kennedy, Lynch, Le Cras & Cox/ Nic Nat will give their backine nightmares. Please play Hunt on Le Cras!

Geelong & Port with 2 losses away from home.

10 Losses and 4 Wins.

It may not make teams loose games but it certainly doesnt help teams win games either.
