Who do you think will be the next pie to step up and earn their first AA selection of the careers?

For me Shaw has to be close to a certainty in 2012, and i really like Sidebottom on the hf flank i reckon his in for a big year. Beams could step up or go backwards i feel

Sidebottom and Wellingham are the Ones from that List that I can see giving a AA a will Shake.

I would not Count out Dawes of Having an AA Type Season

Shaw, Beams, Sidebottom, Dawes, Wellingham, Jolly are the ones I think are capable of AA seasons in 2012. They'd need to have a consistently strong season however. Of those I'd say Shaw is the clear favourite.

Goldsack could be a bolter... this is his first preseason in many years for memory. I dont reckon he'll actually get AA just because he doesnt have the rep yet, but wouldnt be suprised if he was close.

Heath Shaw was AA last year pre stuff up and may well have his best year yet.

Can't see the others being AA with the opposition they'll have, eg Sidey and Beams, etc.

Reckon Milne's forward pocket spot could be up for grabs, not sure who'll play the constant small forward role...Krak if fit ... could Didak be used permanent forward pocket and recapture 2010 form?

Whoever takes Leon's role ( that's if anyone does..no-one had that role in 2010) may have a shot at AA too

For Collingwood - Fasolo would be the one and maybe elliot. Then krak blair thomas sidebottom didak will rotate thru.

For the AA team - rioli or Le Cras would be my pick, with banfield an outside chance if brisbane have a decent season.

Marty Clarke could... but i reckon Hart will have his own strategy and completely rework it.

I think if Didak was to find 2010 form he'd have to spend more time in the midfield pushing forward and using his run.

Shaw is the only one I can see that is a realistic chance of being AA in 2012 for the first time, and even that is only a slight chance. Not sure if he was on track for AA before his stuff up, to be honest, but he certainly is usually just below the mark.

After him, I would put Jolly forward, although he has tough competition, and is realistically only a very slight chance.

No chance for any of the youngsters, i.e Beams, Sidebottom, Wellingham, etc in 2012, let's be honest. They won't even be top-liners in our side, let alone the competition.

Shaw the only chance, and that is a long way from being a certainty.

My money is on Wellingham, if he lives up to his potential. Sounds like he's had a very good preseason so I think he's going to have a massive year. His 37 possession game against Melbourne was no fluke.

People are having a laugh with some of the names thrown around in here. Goldsack? Blair? Really? They'll be doing well if they get entrenched in the 22. Massive case of overating your own. Shaw is the only realistic possibility in the OP's list and that would be as an outside chance. A bit of perspective is needed I think.

Sorry, but if this didn't make you laugh you better go to your doctor.

And by the way it's accurate, Blair will be lucky to be in our best 25 come the end of the year, let alone be the best small forward in the AFL (they pick one specialist small forward most years).

IMO, the following have no chance on exposed form to date - Wellas, Goldsack, Fasolo, Blair.

Beams and Sidebottom, whilst shown glimpses, hard to see them passing our current "big three" - they would need to show AA form for a couple of years to force their way in, say 2014 would be more their time.

Heater - the dude just needs to stay focused for 21-22 games - not do anything "silly", and yeah should he reproduce a season similar to last year - big big chance.

I don't know if Shaw is an outside chance. He's basically thrown away 2 chances of being AA, and then add in that other rebounding defenders from other teams are moving on, I think he's right in the mix to make the AA team (assuming he continues on with his form).

By the way, I'm not too sure if the OP is saying who will be AA in 2012 (even though he mentions Shaw for 2012), more who will be the next players to become AA in their careers.

On a long enough time scale you would hope we have at least a few more coming
