Next year is a bumper draft for us really.

Two top class NGA kids, Cooney and West.

Let the whinging begin
How do we match all those bids and trade for Butters? New list manager will be earning his money that’s for sure.

I'm not sure on the in depth details. But I may have read that the FS eligibility will be less than the standard 100 games as well. Don't trust me on that one though.

But I agree on the rest of your post. It is stupid given that the Father Son rule is about the CLUB that was represented, not one that still doesn't even exist. Might as well call it State Son rule.
The current rule with F/S is that the relevant player gets to choose whether he wants to be taken up as a F/S or go into the general draft ie Dunkley.

Tassie may get access to other clubs F/S's if that player's father came from Tassie, but the player should still get to choose whether he goes to Tassie, to the club his father played for (if he had played over 100 games for them) or into the general draft.

West would be top 35 while Cooney is currently Rookie at best atm

Isn't that because Cooney hasn't played much this year? He has been injured i thought.

Plus, it is more than a year out. Look at Darcy's growth.
mainly the injury reason
A lot more of the next year corp are playing footy now, so naturally he's falling down the radar

I'd say even top 35 would be a stretch for West at this stage. Obviously alot can change with players climbing and falling but at this stage I'd have West and Cooney both on the draft cusp, being either late picks, rookie or passed.
The two NGA boys however I can't see falling out of the first round.

I would be shocked if we didn't pick them, especially when the draft is heavily compromised and all the good talent is gone, there would be minimal chance we would let them go.

At this stage I don't think next year is as heavily compromised as this year (21 of my top 50 club tied) however agree it will still be more compromised then previous.
I also agree we likely pick them but it won't be because they happen to be father sons they're either deserving or they aren't. It is hard to judge as underagers and with limited exposure (I don't watch school football) however I haven't seen anything from West that stands out at this point in time and I haven't seen Cooney at all this year due to Injury, so can't comment there. It is very hard for me to take my red, white and blue tinted glasses off at the best of times however I try to be as impartial as possible.

Yep - similar things were said about Darcy Macpherson, Jayden Foster (both picked up as rookies by other clubs but clearly not rated rookie relevant by us), and Josh Kellett and Josh Wallis (both decent standard VFL players soon after being passed on the draft).

It's similar to Eagleton's kid who may very well get picked for the SA U18 team in the champs this year but not even be draft relevant, as SA don't typically get more than about 10-15 draftees a year and Eagleton at this stage will be among the last picked for the state team.

Dogs may want to tell Khaled El Souki to relax
1.2 32 Disposals, 19 Kicks, 12 Handballs, 4 Marks and 5 Tackles agaisnt NT Thunder
Thanks for these updates VD. Very appealing prospect.

Just a technical question ... if he had 32 disposals including 19 kicks and 12 handballs, what was the other one? A falcon?

my mistake
meant to say 31 not 32

NGA restructure of zones should be out soon

I would expect a couple of clubs to be annoyed at the results

A full breakdown of every state to allow for North to have wider Vic access and Tassie to set itself up.

#1 Khaled El Souki
Midfielder/Forward I 173cm I 04/07/2008

Stats:
31 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 9 clearances, 6 inside 50s, 1 goal, 2 behinds

El Souki brought an intense spark to Western’s forward half with his ability to impact both the scoreboard and the contest. He was lively early, kicking a composed goal in the first quarter after finding space deep and converting cleanly on the run. Beyond his scoreboard pressure, El Souki was relentless in applying defensive pressure, laying multiple tackles that forced turnovers or stoppages in his side’s forward 50. He read the play well, often positioning himself smartly at the fall of the ball and playing with a level of composure beyond his years. His blend of speed, game sense, and effort makes him a versatile small forward option with potential to rotate through the midfield.

What is behind these DNP's? I can understand if some were fringe players, going in and out of the squads. But then you have Williams with a few DNP as well, despite some decent games on the stats sheet. Injuries? Balancing school footy? Fringe best 22? Other?

School footy is mainly withing Rounds 4-10, so they need to balance that factor in

Though a lot will come down to these

injuries- e.g Hicks was hurt in the pre-season
Under ager- Bayley and Dak Liem won't play until maybe end of the year based on Jets and Rebels history of development
