Good recruit by North Heidelberg. Won Craigieburns BnF
10571z big jump from EDFL Division 1 (our division 2) in a team that just avoided relegation to NFNL Division 1.
Hope he goes well though and it’s good to see younger players take the chance to play better footy and challenge themselves.
Too many nowadays happy to take the easier option and leave division 1 clubs to play lower standard of footy and get a few $$$
Respect for challenging himself 👍👍

He did play premier division last season 10 games for 6 in the best.

But yes will be a fair challenge.

He's a ripper. Will do well IMO.

Halfway through October and Mont, West, Bergs and Whittlsea are all without a coach still.

Surely these clubs want to get moving!

Heidelberg, West and Mont would have plenty of candidates. Whittlesea im not too sure about.

Longer it goes the harder it is for them to recruit, and they need to.

Moved along after coaching Knox for 1 season in 2020 without an actual game then coached Yarra Glen to 2nd last in the outer east :/

Gee dunno about this.

Chris Scott could coach them & it wouldn’t matter, unless they recruit they will be in more trouble than the early settlers

Seems a strange decision but Whittlesea generally make solid decisions
Guess time will tell but they have always batted above there weight in getting into division 1.

I have said before clubs like Whittlesea and Hurstbridge are to be commended on playing and surviving in division 1 with small population bases and reduced capacity with sponsor etc

Any club in D1 should be commended but Whittlsea isn’t exactly a “small” area. The city of Whittlsea is home to around 200,000 people. They have a great stand alone facility and plenty of local businesses to draw on.

Not to mention they are also supported by a strong junior program (17s won the flag)

10571z issue has always been plenty rd. If a player signed at Bundoora for example for $200, Whittlesea would need to offer $300 to get them to travel up plenty rd
Has been that way for last 30 years
Yes they have first division 19, an under 17 division one premier so bat above there weight
Not sure where you get the 250,000 people from though
Population of Whittlesea is just over 5000

Come on.. Plenty of people live close enough to consider playing there

The city of Whittlesea (not the suburb) I’m talking about

Point being is they’ve got plenty to draw on.

LOL you are spot on with Whittlesea - as a small country town has outbid many NFL DIV 1 sides with players and $$$$
They have supporters with money & businesses with money that go into one club - Compare that with 15 clubs within 10KM of each other trying to all get their share of the pie
Dont feel sorry for clubs like whittlesea or Hurstbridge as they have all the money from their communities with no competition - Good luck to them dont think they are underdogs LOL

Whittlesea can’t even get enough players for a senior shield cricket team. Tough times up north.
