If there were any positives coming out from last night's game it would have to be the continual improvement of Nick Malceski.

He had it 20 times and had zero clangers. Whenever he gets it you know he's gunna use it.

He was far from disgraced last night.

I see him as potentially our answer to Simon Black in the coming years. Just one of those guys who never loses his cool under pressure. He can play hard footy when he needs to (seen him back into a few packs) seems to read the game a half second faster than most around him, has a great handpass that seems to surgically open up play when nothing appears to be on, he can play a role through the midfield, but can just as easily excel forward and back (probably more back at this stage in his career), he can spot up a target in traffic and can kick a much needed goal. The new string he's added to his game in his last half season or so would be his ability to take a strong mark.

Hate to gush about a player, but he's on his way to being one of my favourites. I have high hopes for him. :thumbsu:

He is really developing. Schmidt will be next to take a great step forward in 2008. I am really disappointed in McVeigh and Grundy, i was hoping they'd step up a little too, but have failed to do so.

How good is he?

He just goes from strength to strength. High honourable mentions to ROK and Tadhg also.

Malceski is a deadly accurate kicker and plays well. Good decisions and this boy can run. Another Tadhg I say.

He's only going to improve! Well done Eski. Easily Swans top 5, so far this year.

I don't think i'd be pulling any punches by saying he may just be our next captain....possibility to remove the no.14 jumper from the mothballs.

With this multiple captains situation, i can easily see him picking up where Kirk leaves off.

Personally I'd love to see him standing beside that other great young leader Tadgh in a captaincy position. Guess we have a few years to convince Tiger to wear that mantle.

I pray every weekend that he never goes into his shell and adopts the overly-defensive mindset that too many Sydney players have. Keep playing your natural game Eski!!

Got to agree with you GCB85. It would be great to see a player of his calibre and ability wear the famous 14

He has number 14 written all over him. He is my favourite player at the club ATM.

Along with Kennelly & Craig Bolton. They just keep on going no matter what & if they are beaten, which is rarely, it's easy to forgive them because you just know that they'll turn it around the following week.

In fact, it's quite easy to forgive the whole team because they are a great bunch of goers who just don't give up.

We need to all think back to that 33 game losing streak in the early 90's to appreciate how good these guys are!

Remember last year we lost to the Crows at home by plenty & didn't look like we were in the same league. The other night we were a cut above them but just couldn't finish them off. We held them to 9 goals..............3 goals in the second half & still lost because of terrible kicking. End of story!!
Cheers!

I don't know if i like the idea of giving him number 14.. it may be too much pressure, if you know what i mean and then who knows what will happen.

It has been worn by some great players, but so has every number. I really don't understand it all, it is just a number and I feel Mal would not a problem 'coping'.

That only applies to the midfield. Never noticed any signs of Kennelly, B2 or Leapin' Leo going into a defensive mindset, even though they defend gallantly week after week.

He is a great player and i cant think of a single team in the league that wouldnt be happy to have Nick Malceski in their side. He has to be one of the best porfoming Swans this season.

He's the best performed player so far this year according to the BigFooty medal.

I appreciate him as aplayer but when someone talks to him next can you please ask him why he he decided to handpass tonight instead of kicking long when clear.

You know when your side is outpaced through the midfield a part of the brain should click into gear and say, "I must get it in there quick to give my forwards a chance".

The Full Moon was Buchy's excuse what is it the rest of them can come up with. Throw us a Frickin bone will ya Roosey.
