Nigel Smart tribute thread

An absolute great servant of the Adelaide Football Club. A club great that we will talk about for years to come.

I for one found it weird this season not seeing his shiny bald head running through defence, and I wish him all the best in the future. An absolute gun defender that could even pinch hit in midfield and defence... was a great media person, wonderful player that represented the AFC with class. Who can forget that hot coal thing

All the best Nige, heres to a great of the AFC...

And lets hope everyone doesnt show to footy park on sunday with shaved heads

Only thing he ever done wrong was play on this year... last year was serviceable but not solid.
Its sad to see a star fade but worse to see him embarass himself.

Yeah, don't think we'll ever forget Nige, running off half back, kicking the ball long and high, to no one in particular...

My personal favourite Nigel moment would probably be the 97 prelim, in the second half he was tremendous, going forward and kicking at least 2 (maybe 3 goals), taking high marks and together with Jars, providing a forward spark. Everyone lifted, but he was crucial.

I thought he was pretty handy in the 98 GF as well, coming back from a knock to the head from David King to boot 3 in the second half.

And who could forget in 1996 when he took that mark at Footy Park against the Swans, diving forward on the ground and bending his neck backwards, almost breaking it. But of course he was fine.

Now I'll admit, I havent been a fan of Smart in 2004. I havent been too thrilled with his form to date and I was keen for him to retire last year and pass on the # 7 jumper to Parker.

All that aside, Thank You Nigel Smart. You've been a fantastic player for us. All the best for you and your family in the future.

My favourite Nigel Smart moment was in the final minute of the 1997 Grand Final. Nigel took a mark and kicked a goal. Bruce McAvaney described it as the icing on the cake as it was the goal that sealed the game for us.

The reason why I liked that moment is that I think it's great that an original Crow - from Round 1, 1991 - kicked the final goal of the game and ensured our first ever Premiership. I always thought it was a nice touch that someone who had seen the highs and lows of the first seven years nailed the win for the club.

On team boards, you must respect that teams supporters. Rubbishing players on their tribute thead is unacceptable. Go & do that on the Main Board or the Port Board if that's how you get your kicks.

But were in the terms and conditions of Big Footy does it state that i must do that. I feel that i am being mistreated by my post being removed.

I also see the ones from yesterday with Macca have been also taken away

If you read the top of the Club Boards it asks you to respect each teams supporters. I'm not going to discuss this any further as you have wasted enough of my time as it is.
