Night games at Geelong

Anyone know if it is possible to have a saturday night game at Geelong? Do they have lights there? Imagine the atmosphere it would geenerate.

I'd like to see you propose it to those that live on Moorabool St and Kilgour St. They'd never allow it, light up their houses too much.

Plus there is no way you would fit sufficient light towers for AFL football behind the Wade Stand.

unfortunately this is correct. right in the middle of a residential area. too many people would complain unfortunately.

imagine how cold it would be in the middle of june. no travelling team would like it at all. that would be good

It won't happen, nor should it happen.

Club had its chance a few years ago when Waverly's lights were being sold, and rightfully declined the purchase. Would love to see one boutique night match at the ground a season where temporary lights are erected - just like we did with the Legends match in 2000.

The AFL would be loath to allow it though, at least until Skilled's capacity is significantly increased.

It wasn't just that the club knocked back buying the lights, it was that the AFL made it clear that they wouldn't schedule any night matches even if we had lights.

Despite local resident concerns, I think it is quite do-able, especially if it is a twilight match.
