They said 20k on the previous day. Hearts to hearts was there and maybe could give an estimate.

The thing is, that might be the number of people who passed through the gates. Not all of them might have been in the stands at the same time and I didn't see any video where the camera did a full pan around the ground showing the people in the crowd so estimates from watching on TV are unreliable.
True, and i wasnt sure if it was the total for the test number or total for the day

It's been about 11k both days.

I'd say organisers would feel that's very disappointing but probably what you'd expect when the only Test is a dead rubber in the series and some genius thought putting the game on the second day of school for the year was a smart move.

Yea, should have started on a friday/saturday and be the first fixture of the series.

Yeah, 11 something on day 1 and 12 something on day 2 so cumulative attendance. Feels like a small -if enthusiastic - crowd at the MCG, but more in two days than any other test has drawn over four or five days. Appreciate the ambition and they should get decent crowds over the weekend - and as players have said, they’d rather play in front of some empty seats at a great cricket ground than a full crowd at a small ground.

Lol the ropes are in 50 metres, what does it matter about the size of the ground?

Ridiculous. I wouldn't expect Male participants in Mixed Netball on the Honor Boards of Netball Australia. Some might think I'm a dinosaur, but that's just commonsense, isn't it?

I find it distasteful, not saying she shouldn't be up there, but FFS, give the girls an honour board if it's so important.

Distasteful and ridiculous are sure some dinosaur ways of commenting about it.

Not to take away from scoring 2 and a half times englands efforts, but we lost 6 for 35 or so there.

I dunno how I feel about it. I guess im on the fence with most social shit. Doesn’t impact me personally so I dont really care

seating size
Seating size? **** you wanna play with a scattered crowd of 5k that holds 100k.. they’d be better served at Junction Oval that holds 8 or 9 and actually hear the crowd in one area

When we played melbourne at the G last year it was very ordinary atmosphere. I was on level 2 and it was a let down. That crowd at etihad has much more impact.

Silly request from the girls

they'd be down 5k so far in two days if the played at junction, so no they wouldn't be better served. No less, the ground is the appeal to the crowd too, they want to go to the G to watch the women's ashes.

An empty G has zero atmosphere, a packed suburban ground would be fantastic. A carnival like atmosphere with activities for kids on the grassed areas. Be pretty hard to keep young kids interested or entertained at an empty G.

Said 10 thousand people. Family and friends and a few others.

To operate the G for that crowd would cost a fortune. That crowd wouldn’t cover turning on the lights.

Kids free? $20 general admission?

further to that, this is a 7 game series and they very much did that already

Do they? It appears not.

Do they want to see Australia smash all kinds of shit out England in anything? Probably.

Women's Football, dead rubber or not, would be nearly sold out.

Women's cricket where 5,000 seats are filled in 100,000 stadium is just ridiculous.

Has to be a one off. Waste of money. So much waste. Pump that money into grass roots so we actually have a team in the future

More people have shown up to each singular day of the test match than each of the pajama cricket that came before it. So yes, of those that go to the cricket, and not a completely different sport, they do.

I can't be assed researching but I don't think they do.

You might have 3000 Silly Gits with nothing better to do.

1000 family friends and extended family and the rest are made up of unemployed Richmond fans with literally nothing else to do. You know who I'm talking about if you have sat in the AFL Members at any point in the last 32 years.
