No non-Vic team has defeated a Vic team in the Grand Final without list or salary cap concessions

I'm all for this (it should be like the top seeded team from the home and away get the final) but there should also be COLA for Melbourne teams as well given the cost of living there relative to say Geelong.

The fourth reason is because, in the end, you are Richmond.

Enjoy your flag now, because, being Richmond, you won't win one again for decades. You will go the way of the Bulldogs and fluke a flag.

The umpires helped you out QF night as well, and you had a game plan that caught all other teams out. Now, every other team will recruit and plan to counter your small forward line, and the small forward line will go the way of the dodo by the end of the year, or everyone else will do it too, and you won't have that advantage anymore.

Let's see you try to win two or three flags in the next few years.

Looking back at that 2017 Qualifying final, Richmond led 6.10.46 to cats 4.9.33 at 3 quarter time. both teams sprayed their shots.

Richmond then won 13.13.91 to cats 5.10.40.

Richmond had to come from Behind from half time in that 2019 prelim final vs your mob. And they won again. They ended up beating GWS in the 2019 grand final.

and Then theres the 2020 grand final between tigers and cats. Tigers, just like the 2019 preliminary final, came from behind at half time and won again.

It really is a Cauldron, and the Vic teams get more experience playing in front of that huge crowd. Cant blame some interstate teams absolutely sh*tting themselves on the day.
It's really dumb. NFL and Football (Soccer) have WAY higher audiences and still don't just chuck the game at the biggest venue with the largest capacity. The argument that it has to be played at the G because it has the highest capacity is pea-brain Neanderthal logic.

You want to grow the game in other states? Bring the biggest sporting event in Australia to them. Optus Stadium, SCG, Adelaide Oval and the Gabba are more than fit to host a GF.

Always thought Freo would have won 2013 at even a neutral venue

Maybe in the right situation.

Dockers lost 8.14.62 to Hawks 11.11.77.

Had the dockers kicked 14.8.92 instead, it would of been like the 2012 grand final.

Swans did ok but hawks sprayed their shots.

In 2017, Port Adelaide had a home preliminary final against interstate Opposition. Lost.
in 2016, GWS and Geelong both had Preliminary finals against interstate opposition. West Coast had Interstate opposition in their Elimination finals. All lost.
In 2015, Fremantle had a home prelimnary final. Western Bulldogs had a home Elimination Final. Lost.

Plenty of opportunities for Interstate clubs (and Victorian clubs) to advance in finals with a home ground advantage but have failed. So its only an Issue on Grand final day apparently.
GF is played at the G.

End of story.

In 1989 we played 1 game at the G in the lead up to the GF compared with the Cats playing 7.
Back then no one gave a s**t.

People these days are pathetic.
So play your GF from 13-15 away from the MCG and see how you go. Can you imagine the uproar from your sook presidents and members if you had to play away? The only way to make it fair is to rotate the GF. If the stadiums aren’t big enough, stiff. It’s a national sport.

The only pathetic notion in all of this is whining MCG tenants not able to accept the GF should be moved due to ground size or whatever other reason you have.

They play the FA cup final in London every time.

Aussie rules is competing with other sports ( huge sports like soccer) . The AFL grand final has to be a showcase every year to show we are the biggest and most spectacular.
If we didn’t have competition like soccer in other countries then we might move the grand final around because who cares.
NRL play their grand final in Sydney every year where they get 82 000. We ain’t going to be having our biggest day at the Adelaide Oval.

FA cup final isn’t the same thing. It’s a knockout comp vs an actual H&A competition.
NRL only play in two states really, and they should move it around.

Contracted till 2057 at the MCG.

I'm guessing it will be at the MCG until at least 2057.

I can't see the MCC or the AFL changing that contract, so cry all you like but if you are crying for that long, that's a hell of a pile of salt.

You remind me of a person who was born into a very rich family, who got a job at their fathers company as an executive right out of university and then spends their time telling poor people they just are not working hard enough and if they worked harder they could be successful like you.

Don’t argue with him, the saying ‘you can’t argue with an idiot’ applies to him in spades. You’ll go crazy.

Well I won't argue with you
Well with Essendon, i am still surprised they haven't won a final since the end of 2004.

Saying that... Despite North's finances or lack of finances, North Melbourne have won 5 finals since Essendon won their last final.

One was in 2007. Then another 2 finals wins in 2014. Then another 2 finals wins in 2015.

Crazy to think North Melbourne haven't been top 4 in a ladder since 2007. But the 2014-5 finals wins sort of make up for it.

Give North Melbourne similar fiance's what Essendon and Carlton has got, im certain North would of made a grand final in the last 10 years.

You know whats hilarious

All the chest beating about being the biggest clubs

Then they cry because 60000 west aussies cwuelly booing scare their widdle foody pwayers when they are forced to fwy over here

You have a 100000 seat stadium and your “the biggest clubs in the land”.

Fill it.

Boo.

If you cant - stop calling yourselves the biggest club.
I admire your passion on this thread

At Wembley.

A neutral venue held aside for big events.

The killer blow is that its 95% mcg tenants defending it.

Everyone else knows it’s a rort.

Lol

We beat three top 8 teams away including two top 4 teams

We won 9 games at home - 7 games interstate

Its our MASSIVE interstate record EARNS us top 2

when was the last time the tigers beat two top 4 teams away?

Dont beat those two top 4 teams and one top 8 team and we come 8th and play away every finals game.
Sounds like Freos 2022 regular season when they got 15 wins, 1 draw and 6 losses from 22 games.

Crazy that freo lost 4 home games last season. They won 8 home games and 7 away games and got an away draw.

Usually for a non victorian side to get a top 8 spot or 12 wins to get 7th or 8th, They win 8-10 games out of 12 at home, then 2-4 games away (most likely get those away wins vs the bottom 6 clubs)

Lol

Nfl superbowl is a rotating venue - the playoffs to get to the nfl - the highest seeds get home ground advantage

Fa cup final is played at a neutral ground - in the finals to get there the higher seed gets hga

Any soccer final?

What - could have sworn i went to a perth glory grand final - in perth
That was because Perth Glory was the higher placed grand final side.

A-league sucks now as the grand final is in NSW for the next 3 years.

Some Melbourne teams can. Other Melbourne teams can claim home ground advantage in away fixtures during the regular season and then get home ground advantage as the lower ranked side all the way to a flag.

Imagine that.
Carlton hasnt played finals from 2014-22. They could easily win vs the swans at the mcg in week one then knock off ether magpies or Demons in week 2 without leaving the MCG

Look at the fixtures to see which teams are advantaged each year.

Nothing unfair in playing the same amount of games with an advantage / disadvantage. To think otherwise is pretty odd.

Look at Richmond’s fixture this year or Hawthorn’s 2012 or Collingwood 2010 as explained above. This is where the big vic clubs are truly advantaged over the rest.

Then finals come and they get given undeserved home ground advantage again!
And then 2019 rolls around and Richmond got 7 games in a row at the MCG before the finals lol
