We don't have much finals experience but we don't have finals scars either.

2015 and 2016s finals experience (and the two meek away losses to finish each campaign) didn't help us stand up on Grand Final day in 2017.

A loss to Collingwood means Geelong can win out and leapfrog us due to them playing potatoes in their next 3 games. Brisbane will finish ahead of us if they win out from here if we lose to Collingwood.
# may finish ahead.

Nothing is certain as Lions have tough games which are not guaranteed wins!

To be fair, the current top 5 is bloody scary. I don’t think I’m confident about beating any of them, but the same can be said about us.
I think we should win finals, but can't see us going all the way against the big 3 with premiership experience.

Hope I'm wrong.

Record vs top 8 is sobering

0-1 Collingwood
1-0 Brisbane
0-1 Geelong
0-1 Freo
1-1 Suns
1-1 Hawthorn
1-0 Giants

4-5
What is interesting is look at the home & away split of the top 9 against each other.

There is only 1 team that has done well away - Fremantle.

I said they will finish ahead if they win out and we lose a game. That is a fact.

I said nothing about the certainty of them winning those games, just that if we lose to Collingwood and Brisbane will all 3, they finish ahead.

Posters are getting too caught up in possible scenarios.

We are currently in pole position, but most top sides are playing each other, so no one can predict the finishing order with any certainty.

Just sit back & we enjoy the ride as we know we are playing finals & very likely home finals or 2.

I don't really understand the rules around finals experience. If we make a prelim everyone in the team's played two finals.

Is that worse than if we'd made eliminations twice in previous years and lost?
I agree. I think an easy run into finals would be a bigger shock than a couple of really tough encounters leading up to it. If anything, that Hawks game was as good any exposure to finals. I dare say Collingwood will be the same.

Dubious experience.....

The reality is none of us have any impact on whether the Crows (or any other club) wins or loses their last 3 games.

So all any of us can do is speculate and come up with various possible scenarios.

I have no expectation on making the GF.

Not saying we can't. But I see this year as a free hit after being in the Finals wilderness for 7 years.

I plan on enjoying this Finals ride.

Will be happy, and do expect to finish top 4 (most likely top 2) and win a Final.

Anything else a bonus.

Not really our time yet. A lot more improvement to come.

If we finish top 2, that first qualifying final is era defining.

I've forever been convinced that the 2005 qualifying final is the moment our club went from feeling like a club of winners with a sense of destiny for success to a club haunted by choking. We couldn't get out from under it, and that generation handed it down to the next.

This team feels different. Let it start differently and the confidence can grow.

Memory might be spotty after 20 years, but was it James Gwilt who had the game of his life along with Robert Harvey carving us up?

I think we all thought the club wasn't ready in 1997, but sometimes good things happen.
It's going to be tough but we are as good a chance as anyone this year
