Maybe Finn Callaghan but I doubt we'd have gone with Mac Andrew over Rachele, I think we'd settled on Josh a fair way out knowing Callaghan would go to either GWS or GCS.
Yeah afaik we wanted Finn but we're realistic about our chances, so Josh was our focus.

Yeah. All true. The alarming but for mine is the Suns trade block.
What was that supposed deal? It was blocked because the AFL considered it one sided or not fair?

Considering they allowed a straight swap of Pick 27 for Pick 11 the next year suggests they had an issue with us

I think the story was that they didn't want Brad up there. I've heard that he's known to enjoy his personal time.

We were supposed to swap Crouch for 11. AFL said no because Brad was supposedly a bad influence they didn't want around a group of young players given they had worked hard to try and get the Suns rebuilt again.

So Brad being busted with coke 12 months later probably convinced the AFL they absolutely did the right thing.

When Port have some sort of win on or off field the trolls come rolling in and tell you how great their club is.

Our win percentage in the AFL is superior to that of the Crows.

We lead the Crows head to head 26-24 in the Showdown count.

Also, if you lot want to count AFLW premierships in this discussion, then you can't ignore our 36 SANFL premierships.

That means we've won three wooden spoons in our history, while the Crows have won one wooden spoon, so there's something for the Crows to brag about, I guess.

Do you have much to do with what’s going on there at the moment? If so any info such as which new recruits and 1-3 year players are a chance to play?
I'm not a part of the club in any capacity apart from game day screaming etc like everyone else.

Unsure on specifics (eg who gets what) but it was blocked due to the afl not wanting any more issues up at the GC

Remember when you guys existed to win premierships?

I am all for educating and guiding Port Power supporters. I will continue to do so till the day I die. Every generation of Port supporter I come across will receive these Grotto Facts.

Let me provide you with Exhibit A 24 November 1997, located below in the attachment.

Just a reminder that 1997 was the year that the Crows won the flag, they proceeded to double their flag count the following year by winning in 1998.

Fun Port Facts with Grotto.

Port Adelaide Football Club and Port Adelaide Magpies Magpies Football Club are complete separate entities. (Exhibit A)

"As 1997 was the first Port Adelaide Football Clubs first year in AFL competition, they do not have yet any premierships to their credit."

The knockout punch for all Port Adelaide Football Club Supporters to never bring up how many flags that another separate irrelevant SANFL football Club received.

It ended up being pick 15 with GWS who selected Stone..... I assume if we had it we probably would have selected Cook still as that was his range or there abouts.

Can't argue with that. And that's why I'll give Craig a pass as our coach. OK there's only one true measure of success etc, but he wasn't a "bad / failed" coach as such. On the other hand, his time ran out, for whatever reason(s) and so he joins the long list of "couldabeen" coaches.

Obviously when it comes to hiring and firing coaches, there's a lot of factors such as the stage the club is at / whether the coach is the right one for that time (rebuild, development, finishing touches etc). Not to mention probably the internal "vibe" that tells the club whether the coach has "lost" the players and it's time for a new voice.

So when it comes to Scott - yeah, he's done nothing sackable in terms of team performance, I agree. Is he "under pressure"? Well, if "under pressure" means the only thing that saves him is taking the next step (GF), then that's not IMO fair on him, given the state of their playing list. On the other hand, when the cliff comes (surely this year or next), will the club decide to stay with the 11+ year veteran, or bring in a new voice to go with the new, younger playing list? (Surely they do).
Hinkley played for the cat's. Timing might be perfect 😉

It was blocked because they didn't want Brad causing trouble up there.

An understandable concern but it’s pretty outrageous to block a trade if club and play have agreed.
The AFL must have very little faith in gc’s ability to build a successful culture.

We've managed to even gain international exposure by playing games in China and having our games at Adelaide Oval broadcast live to the Chinese on Chinese television.
So you'rethe reason for our poor relations with china
I'm surprised China didn't use that as a Casus Belli to invade.

So we've never won a wooden spoon in our history, whereas every other AFL club has won the wooden spoon at least once?

Thanks for reminding me. :)
You've won 3.....

Changes to AFL ticket prices as crowds return

Cut price family footy tickets will be introduced by the AFL in a bid to get fans back in the stands.

The Sunday Herald Sun can reveal families of two adults and two children will now get into the footy for $50 with a new family pass.

And in another move to reignite the love of footy after lockdown, the AFL will send an extra 100 staff to schools to grow interest in the sport, increasing participation from 50 to 85 per cent of all schools.

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said the league wanted to help bring crowds
back to the city, filling restaurants, shops and bars as well as the MCG and Marvel Stadium.
“Footy can hopefully help bring the heartbeat of the city back to Melbourne and back to the state of Victoria,’’ he said.

The new family pass will allow two adults and two children aged up to 14 entry to matches in Melbourne from rounds one to five, before being assessed for potential extension.

In another win for footy starved Victorians forced to watch their team on TV during successive lockdowns, ticket box offices closed due to the pandemic will reopen at stadiums for the first time in two years, allowing fans to buy tickets on the day.

I know a line must be drawn somewhere, but 14 seems a bit stupid. Wouldn't you pick an age that best aligns with finishing high school? I'd not argue with any age between 16 and 18 if filling stadiums is the goal.
