:100: agree ..... I've never warmed to Rozee as a bloke .....IMO he's too much of an individual, and does not come across as a leader

Too young to be given the job ....I'm wagering it impacts Rozee's game
He hasn’t done much wrong since being drafted, but yeah he doesn’t scream leader to me either.

Port made an error in selecting Rozee imo - he has been known to sook it up and can be physically intimidated. Butters was the better bet - tough little bastard and can play - will take the rough stuff and lead. Still, thats good for us all they chose Rozee

From what I heard, Butters is not a team man. He had to have a good talking too for the way he speaks to team mates during and after games who don't perform to his expectations and a huge sit down at the end of the season with the coaching staff over this. He is not leadership material, let alone Captain.

Strange that they made him vice captain.

Has Butters had a chat to Ken about not meeting expectations...

I haven't liked Rozee from an early game when he was being pushed around a bit by an oppo defence. Lycett came in and threw the guy to the ground and then Rozee came in and pushed the guy over again as he was off balance getting up.
And secondly, when he made a sanctimonious comment about Tex during the racism issue. Some scripted motherhood statement with that unfortunate smug face.

Having said that, I still wish he played for us. Would think though that he wouldn't even make our leadership team, let alone captain.

Report: Clayton Oliver charged by Victoria Police for driving on suspended licence

7 News’ Mitch Cleary broke the news late on Friday that Oliver had been caught behind the wheel by Victoria Police despite being banned from driving after a medical episode.

Oliver suffered a seizure in October and was taken to hospital as a result of the incident.

Dodged a bullet with Oliver. I was torn when we’re linked with him. I was hesitant to get him as we would have to pay a massive amount in terms with capital and contract to get him. However, he could put us in a position to challenge to a flag.

He’s a liability at the current moment

Apparently he couldn't afford an Uber...

Or having a few issues after being denied a trade?

Stuck in a workplace he doesn't like and suffering mentally.

Yeah..its a tough one. I am so stoked we got Curtin and we absolutely don't get him if we had been able to trade for Oliver. Still, lets see how he next season plays out, if he can't knuckle down over there, the dees might be open to a trade and it may be a less expensive one if they are keen to part with him. A change in environment 'might' help him.

And a focused Oliver would make a huge positive impact to us

Rozee is the more photogenic of the two.

It's an interesting one

From what I remember hearing at the time Adelaide supposedly knew full well what the situation was with Oliver.

He was open with the Crows about coming here because he needed a change and a reset by getting away from Melbourne (the city not the club).

Melbourne then panicked and promised to work with Oliver to help and support him through his issues.

Sounds like it's looking like a failure, it will be interesting to see if there's still talk with Oliver next year

Will be interesting if Oliver and Petty are both available.

Surely Oliver's trade value will go down, if he is on the table in 2024.

I would absolutely take him, if we can can get all his outside troubles sorted which is a big issue. Absolutely his price will go down and I would imagine Melbourne would pay a portion of his salary. If we’re going for a window it could be a massive reward.

Assuming we only have the trade capital to go after one, who would you choose.
Open question ❓❓

Yep a classic high risk/high reward scenario

Might only all come together for one year but if you grab a flag in that year it’s worth it - even if you’ve paid a premium. Probably!

Unless Oliver absolutely falls off a cliff mentally, my answer to that question is who is Petty - never heard of him

Seriously, if Oliver became available, wanted to come here to get a fresh start and he cost us a 1st and a 2nd or 2 1sts...where do we sign. The guy as a player would walk in elevate our midfield another level. We don't need Petty anything like what difference Oliver would make.
