It's due to the out of proportion praise he gets from the media. He's not head and shoulders above other key defenders and in some of his AA years it was arguable he shouldn't have been picked.

The media sucking isn't Alex's fault really now is it. It's just an excuse not to recognize how good he is. Which other key defenders have been as good for as long that aren't recognized as great players?

Most people recognise he is a good defender but you get sick of hearing how great he is every time he is near the ball. Even when he makes a mistake they are praising him it's bizarre. Adding his latest diving antics it's not surprising a lot of fans are over him.

What's Adelaide going to do with pick 1 or 2? Trade it for two top 10 picks? Dangle it in front of GC for Rankine? Use it on a top youngster?

I don't see the point in taking Rankine with an early pick only to trade him for a slightly earlier pick a year later. But then, I didn't give Fremantle Pick 2 for Lachie Weller.

Yeah a lot of new players who have to learn the game plan too. Be back about round 6 -8 but now with an interrupted preseason.

Cerra, Brayshaw, Bewley etc are all still effectively kids. The only big bodied senior mid after Fyfe is an aging Mundy, now that Neale has left for greener pastures. Cannot rely on the Hill brothers, Bennell etc to lead the brigade in 2019.
