If port beat GWS (50-50 game) and freo inconceivably beat north there will be 9 teams on 3-1 going into round 5, no undefeated teams and only one winless team (Carlton)

Very even season so far

Norf very good chance to be 4-0 which leaves me feeling ill.

Conversely Freo very good chance to be 0-4 which leaves me feeling happy and content.

It may be a weird feeling afternoon tomorrow.

After giles performance for ep today, i wanted him to replace lycett but i think FMAC should come in. the guy has a high workrate and we need him to lay a few blocks here and there an let kennedy get off grundy. Nic nat should role forward more often and even gov and cause a bit of havoc up forward. grundy is their only true big defender so a gov, nic nat, frase and jd could have a massive impact on the game.

Watching that Crows game, I got what I feel is an unjustified wave of confidence for next week. The size of the SCG will play right into the hands of the web - the main source of goals against is clearing the top of the zone, a tactic which Sydney used many many times tonight against the Crows. Far less space to cover from the wing backwards, makes me feel a little happier about the prospect of goals over the top.

Of course it could all backfire and just mean that the goals over the top come one kick quicker, but either way...

Hot Fuzz should have been on 15 minutes ago, instead I'm forced to watch more of Ling's ugly mug and the admittedly funny sight of Luke Darcy struggling to make a comment that doesn't contain the word 'brave'. Why do they never factor in their shitty post game crap in the TV listings?

If we hadn't given a mentally weak showing v Hawks 3 weeks ago at the MCG, I'd be feeling confident.

We haven't traveled very well lately.

Since RND 18 2015 we've traveled 4 times.
  • Metricon - Draw (Undermmaned GCS)
  • AO - 54 pt loss (Crows on the rise)
  • MCG - 46 pt loss (Hawks GF)
  • MCG - 46 pt loss (****ING Hawks GF replay)
The lads clearly have lots of mental demons when travelling.

Time to exorcise them bitches.

How many wins for the minor premiership this year? I could see 17 being enough as there's no team that looks good enough to go on a big run. Gonna be a wild season.

They're not even talking about Carlton or the Bulldogs! How about you talk about Melbourne and Collingwood tomorrow morning before that game?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to start a change.org petition calling for accuracy in TV listings.

Simpson mentioned our poor recent away record in the post game press conference (I think - if not it was one of his others but I've heard him say it) so I'm hoping that he'll challenge the boys to perform better against the Swans albeit on a ground we rarely play on nor have a good historical record

Screw Rosa, Sinclair and Scooter, Pyke was our biggest loss.
Yes thought this at the time of his appointment with Adelaide. Pyke has a very good football brain and I was thrilled when he got the appointment as assistant to Simmo when he was appointed as coach. Wish Pyke well, as long as he has a bad day when Adelaide are up against us;)

He did.

As a supporter that isn't within cooee of the inner sanctum, I can only hope they come out different this Saturday.

History tells us a different story.

Loitering on the freo board because I heard there were melts.

"Somehow Cometti finds a way to include Freo in his commentary. Confirms he is an Eagles supporter."

My sources were right.

Yeah, those purple boys up the road are always good for a quality melt.

Certainly helps pass a slow work day.

thought we exorcised them early last year but it has crept back in. I hope this time the boys are actually pumped up(like against port and tigers last year).

I'm going to have a bit of a sook.

Starting to form an opinion that Beveridge is a bit of a plonker and getting a little tired of the love fest for the bulldogs in the media, particularly the accepted wisdom that they are an ultra attacking side. Their scores this year :

15.13 v Fremantle
13.15 v St Kilda
13.12 v Hawthorn
13.7 v Carlton

By no means terrible but when you consider all those games have been played at Etihad in perfect conditions it's somewhat underwhelming and not really a justification of their reputation for being an attacking side. I will say that they are playing some good football and are exciting to watch yet their scoring power isn't as strong as you'd think.

Adelaide on the other hand.......

Mastermind of the weagles web, no wonder Adelaide targeted him.
Was he?

Not saying you're wrong but they don't really explain who does what amongst the assistants in any great detail so it's hard for us to know who's responsible for what. Pyke is definitely a loss though no doubt

Brisbane beating Gold Coast - does this mean Freo may even be bottom 4 this year? At least Brisbane can score.

I thought Clarkson said he tried the web once at the Hawks circa 2013 and decided not to pursue it as it didn't work for them. Not sure if it was Simpson's brainchild, Clarkson's or someone else's. Clearly it worked well last year when we were light on in the KPD department but our defensive structure seems a bit different this year.

Id say simpson along with help of some others. Waudrop id rate up there with pike as strategy and planning simpson would have showed him the insights

well being a stoppage and structures coach he would have at least been a part of it. I think crows list it self has been up there for a while and have been underachieving for a few years. They got one of the best spines (if not the best) and their midfield has been really good. it seems the loss of dangerfield and the inclusion of pyke is what was needed for everything to click. I know its too early to call but so far their the real form side of the comp. Im keen to see us play them twice this season. They probably took the mantle from us as the best forward line but with jd finding form and jk on the verge of getting back to his best we could surpass them in a few weeks time.

As much as it'd be nice to see that I'd rather they finish just outside the 8 so they don't get a really high draft pick even if they have already traded away their 2nd rounder this year (for pick 35 which they used on Balic)
