The work mate I was talking too (laughing at) is still a believer. Certain they will make the finals. I pointed out they need 13 out of 19 and they even acknowledged that will lose against Adelaide in two weeks (making it 13 from 18) yet he is still confident.
He is normally a pretty smart guy.

Freo will not make the finals. It's hard enough picking the final two spots in the top eight from the teams that actually look dangerous (GC, GWS, Geelong, St Kilda, Melbourne, daylight...Brisbane, Richmond, and Port). Top 6 = Bulldogs, Hawks, North, Sydney, Adelaide and Eagles (hopefully not in that order).

I understand the limitations of trying to pick it all from round 4 but hey, there's no doubt there are plenty of teams playing much better footy than Freo. I completed a ladder predictor yesterday without changing the 12pt margins, so pretty much just to see wins/losses based upon current form, and Freo only managed 3 wins (gave them Carlton and Essendon at Domain, and Brisbane away - even that's a stretch). They could better that by beating Richmond, GWS and Port all at Domain, and Collingwood, Melbourne (Darwin) and St Kilda away. I cannot see them getting any more than that (9), hence they'll be bottom feeders for 2016.

Would it be too cruel to compare Keyser Soze to the Dockers in his fall from Top of the Ladder last year to languishing at the bottom after not turning up this year? I'm all for a bit of boisterous banter, but that would be just flat out nasty, wouldn't it?

Keys is around, he's just giving some of us other mugs a chance

Collingwood and GWS were both 7-3 last year and missed finals. It can happen.

They'd need a pretty much unprecedented turnaround in form though to make the top 4 and history suggests that if you're not top 4 you're not winning the flag.

And their only chance of two home finals is if the finish 5th/6th and manage to play us after.
