Just happened to stumble across a live presser feed on the AFL website, AFL commission has officially scrapped the GF replay - now 5 minutes + time on each way.

I didn't mind the replay... (only for the Grand Final).

Created a shit, anti-climactic game in 2010 when extra time would have been incredibly exciting and probably would have resulted in a St. Kilda win.

The replay was a poostain on the underpants of our game. Great that it is gone - should have been gone much sooner.

My mate and I are talking about this now. I assume it isn't golden goal because of the time constraints put on by broadcasters and the other events of the day/night with the AFL not wanting to risk waiting 15 mins or longer for a goal to be scored?

Goal would be better, but I can kind of see their logic.

Interesting possibility of a team kicking 7 behinds and then the opposition going up the other end for a goal.

I see the argument for golden goal but the end of a close game, and especially the end of a close OT period, teams would be doing anything to get it forward and score, even if it's just a behind. Only concern for me is how much influence an umpiring decision on the forward flank has in a golden point situation, but it's a better system than what we'd had.

I prefer mini quarters to "golden goal or point "
- because at least that way , if there's a scoring end (due to wind /the sun etc), both teams get a chance

The good thing about the MCG is the wind doesn't really give one team an advantage.

Good point badge didnt think about that. It just seems a free kick in the middle or a shit puopolo shrug or something in the 50 or a 50m penatly and the game is almost guaranteed over with golden point

I don't recall many 'G games that affected by the wind. It protects the playing surface pretty well.

like a penalty shoot out they should have players from each team kicking from 45 meters out at goal. The opposition can have a player to defende any of the low balls or balls that bounce.

Adelaide at $2.70 - $3.00 are a good show against Hawthorn, should be close (Crouch and Hodge both probably back in their respective sides). I can also see St Kilda upsetting GWS at Etihad.

Edit: forgot the good bloke played v St Kilda.

Are the crows really paying that much!?! I'm chucking a $50 on it, that's awesome value!
