I keep thinking Adelaide must be secretly boiling over that dodgy Swans game.

Clearly the in form team heading into September and seeing Carlton and GWS in Prelims would be thinking that should be them.

Would give Brissy and Pies a fair shake too, good record v then this year.

Definitely made it more stressful not knowing how much time was left.

The overwhelming tension in the finals stages of the 2006 grand final with the ball on their half forward flank, followed by the sheer jubilation as the siren went.

I understand it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I did love the count-up clock.
No.
Getting too old for the stress. I even watch our games on a quarter delay knowing the score so I don't spend the whole time yelling, swearing, jumping off the couch and sending the dog off into hiding or looking for the remote after throwing it at TV, said dog etc.
Fine at the game live though.

How much better was Channel 10's commentary team compared to 7's? And how much better is the count up clock from the 5 minute warning?

It wasnt any better than the era equivalent commentary, worse at times, its just channel 7 has gotten exponentially putrid in the last 5 years.

One thing that has been bothering me with this whole North and Sanders thing is:
How are they allowed to have him included in their academy at this stage.
I thought they had to have him signed up by his 16th bday.
Or are there different rules for indigenous kids to multi cultural kids?
If not it seems entirely unfair considering we got knocked back for Erasmus, didn't we, because we were too late.

Hinkley has had them playing finals regularly, but not winning them. After a certain number of years (some might suggest before they reach double figures) of trying and failing it's a case of what have they got to lose by giving someone else a shot.

Hinkley is the guy who keeps losing at the arcade but won't stand aside and let someone else have a chance to play the machine. Kochie is the parent who keeps giving him change to play with.
Reminds me of Scott Nd North

I'm still not over Clinton Grybas dying...
Passed away from a head injury sustained from a fall whilst sleepwalking wasn't it?

I'd just moved back to Perth after living overseas for a number of years, so I didn't hear him commentate so much but from what I did hear, he was a great commentator. Did he also comment the cricket?

He’s been in their academy since 12. So have a heap of other kids. But North hadn’t done the paperwork before for Sanders to be recognised as an NGA candidate.

Were the forms sitting in their junk e-mail folder?

While you’re here, can you let us know how Kalin Lane’s been travelling?
He missed a chunk of the season with a family issue (I believe one of his parents passed away).

He’s looked good when he’s played reserves, but we rotate four players through our reserve ruck position, so none of them get a fair crack at it.

Not sure about the cricket, but the rest is :thumbsu:

Threaten us with taking Curtin!

View attachment 1809787
They've been playing this card for a while now. Reckon some posters have convinced themselves that WCE would rather Curtin instead of Reid and the only way WCE end up with Curtin is by trading with North for unders, despite the fact WCE could simply take him at #1, which they won't.

It's ****ing weird.

No, you're just not getting it.

  • We have pick 1
  • Curtin isn't worth pick 1, we'd be stupid to waste pick 1 on him
  • Curtin may be worth pick 2 (academy players not included)
  • To make sure we get him we have to trade pick 1 to North to get pick 2
  • North pick Reid
  • We then pick Curtin
  • North win the next 50 flags

Surprised they'd expect to trade when they're such a powerhouse they could demand WCE pick Curtin at #1, or they will take him at #2...
