Cannot wait for a journo to finally find the courage to ask Buckley "Why did you dismantle a premiership team and close your premiership window?"
I hear this said a lot on here but is it true? I don't really buy it. I don't see it as a dismantlement so much as they were two parts of the team, and the older part was actually pretty senior and have mostly left through retirement, and most of them were pretty obvious people to let slip into retirement (Jolly, now Maxwell, Johnson, Didak, Davis, Brown. There's also Krakouer & Tarrant from the 2011 team).

Obviously there's been some trades as well, but Dawes more or less left because he couldn't replace Brown, Wellingham was crap and apparently is still on an AFL list, and then we get to Thomas and Shaw who are actually loses, but hardly keep the window alive. There's been a lot of turn over, but it doesn't strike me as something that can pinned on Buckley until we get to Thomas, who left to play under Malthouse and which I struggle to blame Buckley for, and Shaw who kinda dug his own grave.

Just an astounding amount of passengers for a team that did have so few weak spots with everyone going when it was their turn.

Lumumba has clearly seen too much shit, done nothing.

It would be, but I just cannot stand draws. I hate it. It screws the whole ladder up

Not to mention buggering up punts! The Crows just got me a 3 way multi of Richmond/Brisbane/Crows - 12 to 1 thanks!

It's probably a little overstated, but 9/23 (including Davis) is pretty massive turnover for what was a reasonably young premiership team. Shaw, Thomas, Wellingham and Dawes are all mid-20s and all still on a list - that's a huge chunk to willingly trade out of a premiership team.

I think a lot of it is also based around the fact that they've gone for such mediocre mature-age replacements implying that they're essentially aiming to improve their current chances, which clearly isn't the case.

******* hell can someone explain this infatuation with Eddie Mcguire? Almost gagged on an ad for fox footy just lauding his superiority

When they say "press red for Ed", I'm pretty sure they're talking about his complexion. Ed's a couple of pork pies away from a serious coronary episode.

I'm fine with this. I'm typically fine with teams attempting to do stuff like this, but Jesse White? But it does kinda seem to conflict with the "shutting down the window" thing. If they hadnt attempted to replace the retired players with these middle age players, wouldn't that also be shutting down the window? I think it's just people wanting to make fun of Collingwood and Buckley, which is obviously fine too

I think the point is that he's inadvertantly dismantled a premiership team.

Don't recruit like your standard BF D&T board poster, and maybe their list management looks smart.

And I just don't agree with the point, because the team sorta dismantled itself. Clearly the attmpets to replace the departed have failed though. So I guess the question I hope someone asks of Collingwood is more along the lines the White/Lynch/Young side of things

I don't think any of those except perhaps Thomas (who was absolutely singled out/criticised relentlessly in his last couple of years at Collingwood - I've only heard the Collingwood side of the story which suggests he probably deserved to be, but that's a pretty one-sided side of the story, one that thinks that this team was only a couple of injuries away from their rightful top 4 position) were player driven decisions. I think the club was pretty stoked to be shot of the other three rather than (necessarily) vice versa. That's not to say the players weren't keen to leave, Shaw aside, but the club didn't fight to keep any of them.

Josh Green is fast joining Herritier Chumbawumba, Lindsay Thomas and Ryan Crowlet as the most hated player in the comp.

Just has a head that annoys me

He's got the elite small forward arrogance with none of the performances to back it up.

5 teams (north, dons, crows, pies, suns) are fighting for 3 spots.

I think Adelaide and north have 3 definite wins, 2 50/50.
Gold Coast 2 wins, 2 losses, 1 50/50.
Essendon and Collingwood 3 wins, 1 loss, 1 50/50.

Will really come down to the 50/50 matches as to who finishes in the top 8.

Put a line through those two.

Buckley never liked the party culture at Collingwood - He should have let the situation stand for a year ( 2012 ) and see how the year panned out - Collingwood didn't live up to his expectations in 2012 and then you start the culture shift - Buckley's action reek of him imposing his morals on the playing group TOO early.

Can somebody explain to me why the Ty Vickery incident is causing such outrage? Cox instigated the whole thing, and sure, it was a disproportionate response, but if he kept his elbow to himself in the first place, none of this would have happened. If Cox wasn't the recipient of the whack, and the victim was a maligned player rather than a loved one, I wonder if everyone would be up in arms.
