I hear this said a lot on here but is it true? I don't really buy it. I don't see it as a dismantlement so much as they were two parts of the team, and the older part was actually pretty senior and have mostly left through retirement, and most of them were pretty obvious people to let slip into retirement (Jolly, now Maxwell, Johnson, Didak, Davis, Brown. There's also Krakouer & Tarrant from the 2011 team).Cannot wait for a journo to finally find the courage to ask Buckley "Why did you dismantle a premiership team and close your premiership window?"
Obviously there's been some trades as well, but Dawes more or less left because he couldn't replace Brown, Wellingham was crap and apparently is still on an AFL list, and then we get to Thomas and Shaw who are actually loses, but hardly keep the window alive. There's been a lot of turn over, but it doesn't strike me as something that can pinned on Buckley until we get to Thomas, who left to play under Malthouse and which I struggle to blame Buckley for, and Shaw who kinda dug his own grave.
